Wolfe is a major priority in the 2021 class. The Vols have an obvious need at tight end and Wolfe is an in-state prospect who grew up rooting for the Vols. Still, it’s not a given that the Vols land the Hardin County prospect. Wolfe has visited Alabama and Ole Miss multiple times of late and both schools are hot after the Top 100 prospect.

It was big that the Top 100 prospect got 1-on-1 time with Joe Osovet, potentially his new position coach, on Thursday after being originally recruited by Brian Niedermeyer for the last year. With the unknowns of the recruiting calendar moving forward, Tennessee stunning some Tide and Rebel momentum was at least a plus Thursday.

“I really enjoyed being there as I got to spend some more time with the coaches,” Wolfe said. “I spoke with coach [Jeremy] Pruitt for a while. We are just continuing building the relationship between us. “When he came in, Tennessee wasn’t where it’s been in the past. He’s been turning it around and I think he is well on his way. I expect big things this upcoming season.” The Volunteer State native has been a frequent visitor to Rocky Top over the course of the past few years, so outside of relationship building, Thursday’s trip was to see the coaches in action on the practice field. “Coach O [Joe Osovet] is a great guy. I like him and speak with him a lot,” Wolfe said. “He’s a fiery guy. I was watching him coach yesterday and I like the way he does things. I’m really looking forward to continuing the relationship with him.”

“I’ve been to Alabama, Ole Miss and now here this winter,” Wolfe said. “With this whole coronavirus thing, they have pretty much shut everything down – so this it for a little while. I had other visits planned to Georgia and Ohio State, but we’ll figure it out. “I am kind of bummed and disappointed, but in recruiting nowadays, a lot of it is over the phone. So, it’ll all work out.” The tight end still plans to take those visits, and maybe more, when the restrictions are lifted – but the lock down has likely shifted the timetable for what looked to be a mid-summer commitment.

“I was hoping to get it done this summer and out of the way, but that was with a few more of those spring visits. I need to get to those other schools before I make a decision on where I'm going. My commitment could be pushed back now.” Luckily for Pruitt and staff, Wolfe got to Tennessee just in time. “Growing up, I guess you could say Tennessee was a dream school,” Wolfe admitted. “Where I’m from, there’s a lot of Tennessee fans as you’d imagine and there is persuasion all over the place. “I just need to take my time and figure it out.” Tennessee will likely have Wolfe back on campus at least one more time prior to making the final call. “I think a summer visit could definitely be in the cards,” Wolfe concluded.

I'm not sure where he's at on Bama's board. If they want him he's probably theirs. HW has been a little banged up which probably explains the offseason drop in ranking, but a good senior year will change that. Any hesitation on Bama's part could make the Vols the favorite here. Lots of UT people around him out there in Savannah.

Four-star TE prospect Hudson Wolfe's father tells BamaOnLine that they'll be back on campus June 19-20 for their official visit. The Savannah (Tenn.) Hardin County product will also be at spring practice April 3-4 for an unofficial visit.

This will be the second and third trips to the Capstone for the Wolfe family this offseason. They were on campus Feb. 1 for Junior Day. “Just being around the culture even more,” he replied when asked what he enjoyed about his return visit on Feb. 1. “I really felt when I went down there this time that I was fitting in and I was being a part of it. It was as if I was welcomed in and it felt like home.”

Wolfe is aiming at making a decision in the summer, so the final official visit date could prove advantageous for the Tide's chances against programs like Auburn, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, USC, and others.

It’s one thing to be a huge fan, but if you’re making major life decisions based on your fandom then you’re demonstrating a level of emotional immaturity.

Right now, Alabama is more successful both on the field as a whole, but also more specifically at sending tight ends to the pros in recent memory. You don’t think schools are gonna sell DWA as an assumed plug and play JUCO 4 star that came here that caught like 6 passes total in two years and will be lucky to get drafted.

Plus outside of football, who knows what this kids academic goals are and what he wants to major in, and which university has the best program.

There’s a lot more to this than fanaticism.
