Well, the best reason to think this isn’t the way it ends up is that we are 6 months from ESD and 8 months from NSD. A lot will change between now and the time anyone signs on the dotted line. Trying to predict what all of these kids will do so far in advance is a fool’s game. It’s exciting but impossible to predict.

More specifically to the guys you have listed here, Dawkins was all set to commit to us a few weeks ago. VQ guys think we’re still in good shape there. I don’t trust the CBs on him. Page was rumored to be a Clemson lean for a long time, but there has been a lot of talk about us closing the gap and some even speculating that we may have taken the lead. Clemson has been getting some really bad press the last few days as he starts to narrow in on a decision. That can’t hurt our chances. I think we’re we’re right in the thick of things there. If you’re really drinking the orange cool aid, rumors of Kirby Smart alienating a lot of folks down in GA could help us with Mondon and Mims, although I still see them as long shots. I would also add Diego Pounds and Terrion Arnold as important targets we have a realistic shot of landing.

Lastly, a lot of new names will pop up before the ink dries in Feb. That is always the case. Some guys who are currently flying under the radar will have big senior seasons and become hot commodities. Guys currently committed will flip to schools no one expects them to end up at right now. Players will reshuffle their lists and different schools will move up down. That’s just part of it.
Agreed. There will be some current commits that will either get git shirts or will flip and recruits that will come into the picture later. As long as we maintain those core guys and continue to show results on the field, we will have a great class.

Agree, but those last two assumptions are far from givens.

Post on VQ

I got hired by OSU on June, 1. I like Tennessee for Wolfe. He said he's gonna commit on June, 15 or "around that date." He played it cool during the interview, kinda overplayed the Ole Miss angle and underplayed OSU but my sources are telling me he's gonna be a VOL.

New OSU writer. Think he used to work for UK site.

Can still here John Ward saying, "The Nationals Champion is clad in Tennessee Orange!"

Yes, need 3 good TE this class IMO, and Nixon, Campbell, and Wolfe would be an excellent haul. I think Bell ends up on DL.

In modern day football the TE position can be so many different things in different down and distance, field position situations. Fundamentally you just need a 7th body on the LOS. From there its always required a hybrid skill set, and that can go a number of different ways. It can be essentially another OT that can run a little and catch a pass (Bell – if he stays on offense). A traditional NFL type that can block, normally lines up tight to the OT and is more of a seam route threat (Wolfe & Campbell) Or someone who is an oversized WR that can split out and create a mismatch with the defense – too fast for an OLB and too big and strong for a safety (Nixon & Campbell somewhat). Or be more like an H-Back that can function somewhat like a blocking back in the old single wing – a blocker, a running back and a receiver. (you normally play the H back off the LOS but it equates to many TE skills) So even if you have 3-4 guys listed as TE’s on the roster they could all have different skill sets that you would want on the field given the game situation. I could certainly see two of these guys (Wolfe, Campbell, Nixon) on the field at the same time and in short yardage maybe all three.

Ohio State is losing 4 TEs this year. This one has to hurt.

I imagine they're going to come hard after that Bowers kid in California that UGA thinks they're getting.
