TN v. USCjr - Shaw & INTs

Definitely a HUGE key to the game:

Either A) get an INT or two or B) Force a fumble or two...
This takes away one side of USCe offense and gives us the opportunity to get ahead and force their one side to play catch up.

Of course the other big key is we have to produce offensively against a defense that can be one of the best in the nation...I know Tiny has haad this game marked on his calendar for a long, long time.

Basically, it is going to come down to which defense shows up for which team on Saturday...

Edit: oh yea, Dylan's a mediocre to bad runner. I Forgot to mention that.

not true. He is not a "dual threat" qb by any stretch but he can definitely run with the ball when the pocket breaks down. He keeps his head up and eyes down the field when he scramble and stays behind the line of scrimmage until he absolutely has to take off.

But he is not a mediocre or bad runner. There are designed draws and reads USC uses when he is in the game and he can pick up 5-15 yards if no one is spying him. He is not Michael Vick or Russell Wilson when he takes off.

Dylan Thompson is very likely the Gamecocks starter in 2013-1014 unless Connor Mitch or Brendan Nosovitch beat him out. He is good enough now to start for half the teams in the SEC.

Not to open a pi$$ing contest, but "USCjr" should refer to an institution that hired Lame Kitten rather than one with the foresight to hire Steve Spurrier.

Agree. Also, the university that was founded in 1801 should not be "jr" to one founded in 1880.

The only common opponent is UGA. USCe had 454 yds of total O and 30 pts vs UGA. UT had 405 yds and 31 pts. USCe allowed UGA 536 yds of total O and 41 pts. UT allowed them 434 yds and 34 pts including OT

This is by no means conclusive but it does point to what I have believed since before the season started. These two teams are pretty similar roster wise. Both have some strengths and both have some significant holes. Both have depth issues and even some talent issues in places. It will come down to coaching and execution.

Hmmm. OK, let's REALLY compare the two games:

Todd Gurley had 132 yds and a TD against USC. What was his stats against UT? Scott-Wesley had 116 receiving yds and a TD. How did he do against the Vols? Michael Bennett tied Scott-Wesley for team lead in receptions vs USC for 47 yds, and Keith Marshall had over 100 total yds from LOS plus a receiving TD. How did those two perform in your game?

The game vs USC was also in Sanford, while the UT contest was in Knoxville. That may matter, may not...

I'm not sure USC has any "talent" issues, but they do have depth issues. Depth as in depth of experience. USC plays a lot of youngsters and players who not only weren't starters last season, they were either red-shirted or in high school last year. But 6 games have now been played during the season, and those youngsters are not as young anymore.

USC looks to be without a starting OG in Patrick who has a ankle injury, but should get it's starting OC back in Waldrop. Waldrop's replacement (C.Stadnick) has played very well, so they might slide one or the other over to OG to help cover for Patrick. USC returns WR Roland who was their leading receiver when he was suspended for 3 gms for school policy violation. backup RB Wilds will still be out with an elbow injury.

Backup LB and true freshman Moore will be out with a concussion, but USC brought back projected LB starter C. Cooper who missed the early season with an elbow injury of his own versus Arkansas: he's the most veteran member of the Gamecock LB unit and will help with depth there....

I've seen every game he's played in ncaa and yes I would consider him a mediocre to bad runner. Hes a good passer but he's by no means a burner
