'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Alabama commit)

Are you saying you think he doesn’t get in the portal? Or doubt any interest between us and him if he does?
I’m saying I think he will be at Bama as a freshman rn. With all those kids tho they just got told so they’re obviously still processing it right now so it’s unclear who stays/leaves (not saying he leaves just in general). Based on people I’ve talked to they should be announcing their next coach really, really soon

Lanning?

Whatever I don’t get my feelings hurt over someone picking another team like Jefferson did. I don’t like a player who wastes a staff’s time intentionally like Seaton but you can’t afford hurt feelings when you’re trying to build a championship team. I would gladly take Jefferson if we had space just going to be hard to find the room imo.

People are so quick to cut a kid off based on their own loyalties.

Did everyone forget he was committed to Tony Vitello for quite a while?

I don't think he hates Tennessee, I think he had a coach that's won 6 NC make him a top priority. That guy's gone now, so the question is where is he going to be the best fit as a player, a student, and a person.

It goes both ways. I might be more forgiving but being from the area makes it sting a bit. Especially at a school like Baylor or McCallie where we have missed on kids in the last few years.

Anyone willing to just flippantly pass on this kid because he committed to Bama is being woefully myopic. We aren't in much of a position to let our pride get in the way of not only taking a really good prospect, but taking him away from Bama and potentially UGA. By that logic, we should have told Cade Mays to kick rocks, too, when he transferred. The same ones who are hopelessly yearning for Tate Ratledge to enter the portal and transfer to Tennessee.

Would rather have Williams.
In a vacuum, anyone would, I'd think.

But, hypothetically, what if Jefferson would commit today, but if we wouldn't take him on the spot, instead hopingvfor a chan e at Williams, Jefferson would eliminate us altogether? IOW, you can have Jefferson now, or a chance (unknown how much or little) at Williams later...which option are you taking?

I'd take Jefferson on the spot in that circumstance.
