'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Tennessee)

Interesting comment from AP that Jefferson likely won't cost a lot NIL wise. Makes it truly a very low risk high reward situation for Tennessee to add a former instate prospect with a bigtime recruiting pedigree that's spent a year in Bama's S&C program on a value deal.

Absolutely still need to get a guy with proven experience and playmaking ability to add to the WR room IMO, but this is a GREAT add.
just how they like it....low cost

The two-way player thing is a cute story for Colorado, but won’t make a lick of difference in the NFL. Hunter is a great football player, but can he be a great positional player (I assume cornerback) at the next level? We’ll see. Now if it were 1925 instead of 2025, he’d be a legend, guaranteed.
I think the real issue with Travis Hunter is that he is truely a generational athlete (I know that term is way over-used), but I don't think he is a generational WR or a generational DB. It's impressive that he excelled at both positions in college, but that's not something he'll be able to replicate in the NFL. Additionally, no defensive back has ever been selected #1 overall, and only 3 WR's have been taken at #1. I just dont see the value there outside of the novelty of him playing both positions in college. I definitely see the value in trading the #1 pick and you can likely pick him up lower in the first round and find actual value there as opposed to #1 overall (assuming you really want him).

Do we KNOW if CJH and CTV have a working deal about him playing baseball and migrating to that roster if all agree that is his best option? Would make this a great value proposition for UT. If his athleticism works for FB great, if not Great. It absolutely could go either way, not working both ways seems remote.

Have to be dedicated to negativism to diss getting this kid BACK from Bama before seeing him on the FIELDS with at least 4 years to get healthy and play both sports.

Yeah the NIL $ is where it’s at however the coaches still have recruit and sell these guys on the program. I still believe that staff changes are necessary but I understand that Heupel is loyal to a fault which is unfortunate.

Huh, not nearly as unfortunate as prolific fans who share their evaluations of coaches without the knowledge set of our AD and HC. You don’t have to be in the locker room to be a cancer for a program. Forums and radio shows are great platforms in our free speech society to share hopes, optimistic or pessimistic. One can at least justify a FAN HOPING for the best. HOPING for failure to validate a negative stance is a sad display.

Exactly. It’s almost like players can develop from their freshman years forward.

Cedric Tillman had 1 catch for -3 yards his freshman season. Probably should’ve cut him.

Heupel & Co. aren’t taking AJ based on what he did as a freshman. They’re taking him based on what he can do in subsequent seasons.
To be clear, before letting this go and never commenting on it again, my concern is not his lack of production as a freshman... it's that he's seemingly the only WR on their roster who didn't get playing time. 4 other true freshman got playing time, including a walk-on. Why not Amari? If it's because of the injury, why was he practicing with the scout team instead of resting? Again, not saying he sucks. Just want to point out that everyone making this argument is arguing with a wall because literally nobody has said we shouldn't take him due to lack of production.

VN: “Jefferson would be an upgrade to the WR room”

Also VN: “Branch isn’t that good with his 10.3ypc”

CTV wanted him for baseball and met with him as part of his official visit for football. CJH will let him play baseball, however, football would take priority as that is what is paying for the scholarship.

Bama board also says he came to play for Saban and didn't really want to play for DeBoer. Who knows how true that is but 🤷‍♂️
I’d say that’s pretty accurate. Saban spent a lot of time developing a relationship with him, and I believe that is why he committed to Alabama. When DeBoer was hired, he stuck with his commitment to see how it would be.

I only caught part of it just now but Basilio said this kid had hip surgery at Alabama. Maybe that kept him off the field longer than expected? I’m not sure of the timing. Hopefully someone close to it can provide the details.
