Dooley and chaney have built the best offense tennessee has seen sinve the 90s. The stats being put up are pretty crazy. A major weakness in ou offense has been closing out games. I would like to say great closing offenses do take time to build. You have to love the fact that our offense has picked up one of the worst defenses ever. Period. But we did let a few games get a way at the end. How the rest of this season plays out should be fun for all vol fans. expect alot of crucial moments In our last few games to go our way as the troy game did. I believe ouran offense will take care of the lesser sec talent.

As good as the numbers show it still reaks of a poor disciplined offense. Way to many penalties and poorly used time outs. Clock management is atrocious. Saturday with a 1pt lead inside of 5min(the drive Dallas dropped the TD) we snapped the balled with 20 seconds or more on the play clock for 3 straight plays. Terrible coaching in that instance and too many more times to count.

Well "ouran" offense will not take care of vandy and Mizzou if the d sucks like last week. TROY almost best us! Vandy and Mizzou are better than Troy.

As that is true do you not think this is uncharted territory for all? I mean im sure dooley is learning how.to call these come from behind games from game to game.

the point is. If you do not see progression then you are wrong. This is a process. Now this is not a thread about defense. This is a thread about our offense. It has been great. Ainge never produced any offense like this. Neither of the.clausens either. Maybe tee has led a more clutch offense bit not one has ever been on brays level. he has choked at the end a couple times but not one has been asked to do more ever than tyler bray

The progress has been in talent and natural maturity of being older. I see absolutely no evidence that the discipline side of things has progressed. We still look poorly coached in that department and yes it's very evident on offense IMO

I think you are wrong. I think that you are really nit picking. I think the mental mistakes you are talking about comes aginst top teams in the nation. its a process. Would you say we lost all the games we were suppose to lose and have won all games we were suppose to win?

No we should have won the miss state game without question with how they have looked the past 2 weeks.

Great opponents don't cause teams to be unable to get the correct personale on the field, they don't cause countless false start penalties, and they don't cause atrocious clock management.

Most yardage doesn't always equal best offense. Being able to run clock and make critical first downs when you need to is also very important.

I just wish we had more fans of what tennessee is trying to do. For years fans called for any offense like this. Its what I always wanted.

Our offensive numbers have been helped by our poor defense.

More possesions mean more offensive numbers!

I always wanted an offense that is willing to play disciple football by not beating themselves. Also willing to bust their opponent in the mouth by running the darn ball when their defense was struggling keeping them off the field. That's what Tennessee offense should be!!!!!

About false starts. Growing pains are the worst but players have to mentally make the hump. Not coaching in the world can help a player know that when a snap is at 3 and you jump on 1, then what do you.do? Sit your best o lineman or let them grow?

That kind of discipline is a mind set that is led from the coaching staff. It starts in everything you do in practice, the weight room, the meeting room, and everywhere else a football team goes about its business. This coaching staff doesn't demand that and the product on the field proves my point.

How many false starts have we had this year on 3rd and less than one that has killed drives???

Too darn many to count!!!

Not offensively. Troy's high powered offense matched against our atroccious defense was a recipe for disaster. Vandy and Missouri's offenses are nowhere close to as highly ranked as Troy's (they were like 22nd in the country IIRC.)

I'm a huge fan. I love no huddle, high flying passing game with a run game that can still gain serious yards. I just wish we had a defense to match...

The no huddle does more to hurt this team than help. Our talent on offense doesn't need that kind of gimmick especially when It puts our d on the field for more possessions. No huddle should be scrapped the rest of the year

Stats equal progress. If defensive stats can be used aginst the defense as backward progress then you should at least look in the foward progress of the offense
