I think it could easily backfire.

Can you imagine the reaction of the fans if the defending team has a 1 point lead. The coach calls one of these last second timeouts and then the first FG gets blocked, but because of the timeout the kicker gets a second chance, makes the kick and wins the game.

I think it would be a quick trip to the unemployment line.

yeah. i assume they are just playing the probability that its tougher to make after your thrown off balance or whatever.

now in the NFL in OT (ala raiders/broncos) i dont mind it nearly as much because of how stupid i think sudden death OT rules are.
