I don't like uncovered hb's. Never have. Plus, my LP's gotta be maple top. That much weight of mahogany gets pretty thick, I'd have the bridge pickup going all the time. Gold top LP's are not really my thing either. I like the solid ebony finish and flame maple tops. And some quilt tops.

So have you decided yet Milo?

I saw the Alman Bro.s on Sunday night. Derek Trucks was wailing on an SG most of the night while Warren Haynes mostly used a Les Paul.

Both sounded outstanding but the LP seemed to have a deeper and more soulful tone when in the neck position pick-up. Both screamed and both sounded great with a slide.

Surfside if you're reading this - during the encore they played Nobody Left to Run with Anymore and on the screen behind the stage they showed a bunch of photos of Barry Oakley and your boy Duane.

Must have been a great show. I have a DVD of the Allmans from the the Filmore West in 1971 with Dwayne. The quality sucks but Duane is smoking with a LP. He was a slide guitar god.

I decided to go with an LP. I'm not the one shelling out for it, so I sent my parents these four...

Les Paul Standard Double Cut Plus (decided on a different color - Trans-Red finish):

Les Paul Standard (Ebony finish):

Les Paul Standard Limited Edition (Manhattan Midnight finish):

This next one is a bit more of a stretch, but I've always had and affinity for this type of Les Paul... pretty expensive but maybe.

Custom shop Les Paul Custom with a flame maple top in a heritage cherry sunburst finish:

The Les Paul custom is sweet.

One of my friends has both a Classic, and a doublecut V plus... he loves all his guitars equally, including his first, a Fender strat. He works at Chambers' Guitars on West End in Nashville. :D
