Tennessee will not pursue Jon Gruden. They will not get into a bidding war and cannot afford to. The most they can afford to spend on a head coach is $3,000,00 per year.

Someone has better intell out there in AZ than I have here in Knoxville I guess, because I've heard we have this billionaire, NFL owner booster named Jimmy Haslam whose brother is the governor and Ole' Jimmy will make sure we can afford any coach we want.

Rucker said on Bill King's show this morning that he would estimate somewhere around the 13th or 14th of December.

I heard that as well. Rucker didn't seem strong on Gruden though. He did say that Gruden is interested and has been checking around more than ever before when college teams came begging. King seems to totally think it's pie in the sky for Gruden. Time will tell, just hoping UT gets their monies worth this time whomever gets hired.

What are the chances Hart makes the new coaching announcement before or after the game Saturday? Has an announcement of this magnitude been done before? Has there been ample time to draw up negotiations and agreements in less than a week? I'll hang up and listen. :hi:

Virtually zero. Formal interviews haven't even taken place yet. Hart hopes to meet with candidates next week.

My cousin's girlfriend's booster uncle informs me that when the band opens the T on Saturday, Jon Gruden is going to run right out of it, find the Kentucky mascot, and beat him senseless, thus beginning a new era in UT football history.

Not the full story, because I also heard that:

Grudester's got ONE game of college eligibility left, so Bray will sit the whole game. Word is that Peyton has already ok'd use of the #16 jersey.

I agree about the Gruden part. He is an NFL coach and he is not coming here or to any college. But how can you say with such certainty about how much we can afford to pay?

How can you say with such ceratainty that Gruden is not coming? Best sources on here seem to contradict that.

Well if it is not an active coach, like Gruden for instance, I hope they go ahead and announce it so we can get a head-start on recruiting. If it's another Dooley clone hire, well I hope they wait a long time to break the news.

If its a Dooley clone hire, Hart may as well announce it on the morning of December 7th... as it will be yet another day of infamy!

I think tennessee will open up the bank. They fail on this hire we are in major trouble!!
Money will not be a problem!!

Unless Dave Hart is on here, NOBODY is in the know. For the ones who say Gruden is coming, it's your opinion, you have no actual facts
