Jordan had absolutely no say in the Bulls organization…that’s the biggest difference btw him and Lebron and the fact Jordan is slightly better which no slight to Lebron just the truth

Huh???

Who did Michael Jordan recruit?

Scottie Pippen was a Bulls draftee.
Horace Grant was a Bulls draftee.
BJ Armstrong was a Bulls draftee.
Stacey King was a Bulls draftee.
Toni Kukoc was a Bulls draftee.
John Paxson signed in 1985 with the Bulls; Jordan's second year in the league.
Dennis Rodman was traded to the Bulls from San Antonio.
Ron Harper signed with the Bulls when Jordan was retired.

The bulk of their contributors to their 6 titles were homegrown talent from the draft, or obtained without any offseason persuasion of Jordan. In fact, player input under Jerry Krause was one of the team's chief complaints. Did you not watch "The Last Dance"?

This was how you built a "superteam" in the 80s: Draft a generational-type talent and build a team around him. The Lakers, the Celtics, and the Bulls just did that better than everyone else. The friendly rivalry all these guys had precluded forming superteams in the current sense. Magic or Bird or Jordan joining someone else would have been an admission that they couldn't beat them.

The Spurs and Warriors Drafted most of their talent too and won multiple championships, with the exception of KD to the warriors.

Who is this “Doc” Rivers of who you all speak?? Is he any relation to the only prominent “Rivers “ basketball player that I know named Steve Rivers ?

Yeah, I couldn't think of any, either. Just focused on the Bulls because I was most familiar with their team build and history.
The only big name with those Lakers that wasn't drafted there was Abdul-Jabar, but he was with the Lakers well before Magic or Worthy were drafted IIRC. As for the Celtics, I think Parish was the only big name they didn't draft. He was drafted by the Warriors in '76, but traded to the Celtics in 1980 for draft picks, including the first overall pick.

The way teams were built back then is nothing like the super teams of today. A lot of the competitiveness of the NBA has been lost because of how things are currently done.

Doc Rivers was a solid point guard for the Hawks in the John Drew/Tree Rollins era and he is just a mediocre playoff coach.

Nate McMillan has outcoached him so far in this series.

Glenn Rivers never played with John Drew. Maybe he played a year with Dan Roundfield.

Also Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were extremely gifted basketball players that made their teammates better.
Take Desmond Green for example. Looking at his stats, on his own, is he an All-Star caliber player worth of representing USA in the olympics? Or is it that playing alongside Steph Curry has put him in the position to be an All-Star.

You've lost interest in the NBA due to transient players? Then you must truly hate the current state of college athletics and all the transfers.

Not a fan of the current environment, but they’re always transient. Even with 4 and 5 year players there is constant turnover. Some of the current state is temporary with VOVID.

I wish the one-and-dones would just skip college as they really aren’t student-athletes. College football as a minor league for the NFL loses something IMO. It’s going to be even more like NFL-AAA and AA ball as N-I-L rolls out.

Any predictions on a final stat line from Harris tonight? For those still watching the NBA 😂

I’ll say he bounces back with 24/6/4 on 40 mins, and if so sixers force a game 7

20+, 7+, 4+ and I think they win, unless Trae has a KD or PG13 like night, wait that's right, he's had a night like that. Still, Philly will win, tonight and the series

Yes, sir. Plus, Tobias nailed all 4 of his FTs in the last minute to keep it a 2 possession game
Yep. It’s so strange to watch. I can never quite figure out who the alpha is on philly. It’s embiid’s team but Tobias shows flashes of dominance and leadership and the ability to take over games, too.

It's Embiid's team, he can just be an idiot on the floor sometime, Simmons is a head case shooting FTs and can't stay out of foul trouble, so Tobias is the brains of the outfit, imo
