Great news, just heard on ESPN that Todd was traded to Boston. This gives him more exposure and a better chance of getting in the World Series. (Didn't catch what the Bosox gave up in return.)

I wish he could have been traded to the Braves(somehow).I could see him blasting out those long drives there.

I hate the Red Sox. I hate the Yankees. I hope Boston falls short of the wild card and Helton hits 50 bombs and has a .370-.400 Avg.

If this trade happens. Its talk from all I know.

Boston's my AL team, so I really hope this happens. Helton deserves to play on a big stage and for a winner. This is the type of deal he has been waiting for, and he needs to take it. He has been the head man in Colorado for too long, and it is time for him to start playing in October, so I hope this happens to further help the name of UT Baseball.

It's hard to believe that Todd is 33. Seems only yesterday that he was playing baseball and football at UT.

I just checked who the Sox are giving up and the trade would be horrendous for the Rockies. They would get a light hitting, injury-prone aging third baseman who has a hefty contract of his own, and Julian Tavarez, a middling middle relief pitcher who seemed to give up a big home run every time he came in to pitch, not to mention the fact that he had near an era of 5. The Rockies would also pay half of his contract (45 million).

That being said, Helton would absolutely pround tiny Fenway into submission. He is a lefty and the right field seats down the line are 302 feet away with that fence only 5 feet highest at its height. They would become the favorites in the AL East if this trade goes thru. The Yanks would be shaking in their boots.

Hasn't Helton been sick with Crohn's disease the last 2-3 years? I know his power productivity has fallen off.

Dont forget Tavarez is Freddy Krueger in disguise.

Is it safe to say Todd Helton is the best baseball player ever to come from the University of Tennessee? I think Phil Gardner is a very distant second.
