He thinks Nico will win the Heisman!

No. It doesn't matter what he thinks nor anyone from the national media

Yes. It is very cool that national people are finally seeing our program in a positive light, especially where we've been in the not too distant past.

For those of you who don't know who he is, he is a host of the cover 3 podcast, a national college football show. He is not one who lavishes praise nor is usually one to buy into hype. To me, this means he has heard plenty of positive things and believes what he has seen himself with Nico

This season is Nico's Freshman year, football eligibility wise. Isn't this correct? He thinks Nico wins the Heisman after this season, or sometime while at Tennessee?
Bryce Young won it in his same season. Yes, technically Young was a true sophomore, but he only attempted 22 passes as a freshman. Nico has 45 career pass attempts heading into this season, so he’s actually more experienced than Young was heading into his Heisman year.

Some obscure national media hack saying something is worthy of a thread now?

Please stop with the hype madness.
Sami, don't be afraid to live in the best of times.

Whether we win it all this season, or just go 9-3 and play in the Citrus Bowl, no one can know. So why not live it up? Why not enjoy the anticipation of another great Vols campaign?

We have a smart coach, a man with strong values. And a lot of really good assistant coaches, some who can make you feel like running through a brick wall. We have an NIL collective and program that is the envy of most others. We have some incredible recruiting going on. And we have the #1 rated quarterback of his class strapping in for a ride. We've got Cooper friggin' Mays and James Pearce Jr., a fella named Squirrel and another who makes the crowd chant, Bruuuuuuu! Seems like everybody's healthy, which is rare coming out of fall camp. And they're all good lads, the kind you wouldn't mind your daughter marrying. They'll knock the other guy on his butt during the play, but they're good lads.

If that isn't enough, we are the national champions in baseball, all year long. And the SEC champs in basketball and softball.

Hell, man, we have drones in the air making pictures at night!

These are the best of times. You might want to enjoy them more, and worry about them less. Plenty of time for worry later if things don't go as well as we'd hoped.

Go Vols!

This thread may seem like hype to some people. Iamaleava is going to be among the top5 QB's in the country this season. He may make it to New York, he may even win it. He'll be a Heisman front-runner in '25 and the likely favorite to win after people see him this season.

People who have seen him play and have seen other top QB's across America play ball agree that he is just as good or better, but he also has an "it" factor that outshines the pure athletic skill of most of the other top quarterbacks.

He isnt on some middle-of-the-road team either. He has all the help he'll need, from coaches to skill players and a strong OL, to go as far as he can.

Get in early or get in late, but the hype is real and the college football world is about to find out just how real it is.

A lot of things need to go right for this to happen. I think Nico has the potential, but needs no key injuries the OL. Keep Cooper healthy and our two OTs and he can certainly put up the numbers.

Thanks, but trust me, I'm not "upset" or worrying in the least. I'm thoroughly enjoying the UT sports renaissance, wearing a UT Baseball natty tee as we speak, and anticipating great things for the upcoming football and basketball seasons. Everything you say is true, but I just don't get into hype from outside sources that will turn on us in a split second if it fits their narrative.

Sorry for the post, as it's simply the utter disdain (actually hatred, to be honest) I have for the leeches and hacks in the national media (both sports and politics). You guys carry on.

Right to the point.
Strikes first at the Negative Nellies.
Makes clear his personal POV.
Answers my immediate question, "Who the hell is Tom Fornelli?"

Good post.

1. Look both ways before posting. Please take a moment to scan the first page of the forum to see if a similar discussion exists before starting a new thread. Also, please don't start a new thread for every thought that pops into your head.

look, I know nothing. But just the vibe I got when he was playing Iowa was awesome.

Makes good and quick decisions.

For the other ones who feel that some of the backup QBs had some nice moments in practice…really? You think based on a practice they are better.

We have bowl game, with Nico dominating, albeit a not complete as before the bowl game Iowa defense.

The guy balled out and that his first start at UT. Imagine with some games under his belt.

Is he the best in everything in practice? Who knows. Maybe the “it factor” comes out when the runner meets the road game day time. IE Dobbs/Hooker situation. Unless your @LittleVol , he knows ha

Posted the odds. Look at all that experience above him. It’s awesome, after one bowl game, to even be thought of to be in that spot.

I'll said it once and I will say it again. Give me a coach that can at least win an average of 9.5 wins per season. I believe we have that.
Our offensive scoring has ranking first, second, and seventh when compared to all teams, 2000 and after. What a ride!
Our defense has improved each year since 2000. If this year's D is better this year than last year, then we are in for a fantastic season!
GBO! Go Vols! I wish that I was on old Rocky Top......
