Understand that I am all for staying with a pro-style O, but you cannot deny what they spread has accomplished for teams like WV, Utah, etc. It has allowed teams that had trouble attracting top tier talent to compete. Kind of like Nebraska back in the day. they couldnt get the top flight pro-style guys, so they became the best wishbone team in the world and recruited the guys that ran that in HS.

VH, what was our recruiting rank the year before last? Since you put so much stock into 4* & 5*'s, this one should be a no brainer.
What was it for the 2006 class? Two out of the last three classes have been Phil's lowest rated. The Vols are not winning championships and they are not being televised nationally much, sometimes not even regionally. I see a trend, same as I saw a trend developing after the 2001 season. Ignore it if you like. Time will prove one of us to be correct. If you are right, then it's no biggie. If I am right, the program will be in the toilet. Nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution.

Team Rankings

2004: 11
2005: 4
2006: 23
2007: 3
2008: 35

3 out of the last 5 years we have had a team ranking of 11 or higher in recruiting. 4 out of the last 5 years we have had a top 25 recruiting class. You are really good at trying to make it look worse than it really is. Now call me a Fulmerite and lets move on because we all know you won't admit you are wrong.

interesting that our 2006 class after a 5-6 season was better than this past season's. Guess I just neglected to notice that.

gv182, the FACT remains that 2006 and 2008 were the worst rated classes in recent years. The trend is going the wrong way. If Phil could not win the SEC with the kind of talent he was getting after '98, what on earth makes you think he can do it now? Now call me a negavol and let's move on because we all know you are wrong.

Yes, 06 and 08 were the worst years that we've had in a while. But we have had good classes in between those that make up for them. If we don't get atleast a top 15 class this year, then we will have something to worry about. Right now it's not that big of a deal.

I have been seeing Michael Bowman play since he was in middle school. He has been playing football with my little brother since then. I am a graduate of Ridgleand High School. My younger brother is the starting tailback for RHS so once again I have seen him play many times. He is a 6'4 6'5 wideout with great hands, long(his stiff arm is a beast). Not as fast as others but he has great movement and a great route runner. He is the younger brother of Oklahoma State standout WR Adarius Bowman. If you recall he is also out of the Chattanooga area but initially chose the Tar Heels over the Volunteers out of high school, before transferring to OSU. He has the ability to go over the top of smaller defenders and make big plays with his leaping ability. He is aslo great at going over the middle to catch a 5-10 yard slant. He only dropped one pass last year and it was a terrible throw. Everything else that he slightly touched with his hands was caught. He had 57 catches for 700 yards with 10 touchdowns. I am in contact with him alot and he is waiting on an offer from UGA which may come after he has taken his ACT. He has alot of potential in his big frame. UT recenlty started to show interest in my younger brother (Terryl Freeman) who ran for 2,050 yards (10percarry avg) and 23 tds in a tough georgia football rich state in 4A. Freeman has been recruited since the beginning of the year by Oklahoma State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and NC state but no offers as of yet. Both of these kids are legite and im not saying that because one is my younger brother and the other a friend. Anything else you would like to know about these two standouts just ask.

Have you seen Michael Bowman from Ridgeland play yet? He's their star WR and he is rated a 4 star prospect by rivals.

One question you may not be able to answer: how is Adarius taking the apparently sliding nature of his draft stock? I was really hoping could end up a first round pick, but I'm not things to that effect.

He will COMMIT tomorrow. His final four is Rutgers, Georgia, Louisville and Pitt...so whether the Rutgers rumors are true or not, he won't be coming to UT. Which frees up a big juicy spot for Newsome to commit to us...please

Tom Savage is expected to commit to Rutgers after also considering Tennessee, Georgia, Louisville, Miami and Pittsburgh, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound quarterback from Cardinal O’Hara High in Philadelphia has scheduled a press conference for Friday to announce his decision.

how can we lose a guy to Rutgers?

You know as well as I do that its not your same old never-win-a-game-all-year-for-a-freaking-century Rutgers team. Greg Schiano has something going up there. I'm not sure its all Schiano, I think it also has to do with the Big East resurgence in recent years. I blame it on ESPN.
