There is some talent on this team. A heck of a lot more than Saban had at Bama and look what he did with that team. 12-2 would be nice for the Vols.

I strongly disagree. the OL is not near as talented as what Bama had.

The cupboard isn't bare.....what you have is a team full of players that were recruited by Cutcliffe and Company to run a pro-style offense. What you had in 2008 was a nightmare, those same players were switched to some nasty version of a spread if you'd call it that. By the time changes were made, the team (specifically the quarterbacks) had ZERO confidence and it showed. Had UT ran a pro-style offense it would have been a typical 8-9 win rebuilding season or at worst a 7 win season. Watch and see....one of the 3 quarterbacks that played this year will step up, take control and have a 3,000 yard season in 2009 same for the running backs....they will step up and have a 1,000 yard rusher. Everybody worries about quarterback, WE ARE TENNESSEE when we run the ball, WE WIN plain and simple. It doesn't matter if UF, UGA, Bama or the next contender throws the ball all day long....when we run, the clock runs and their offense is ridin the pine. How do you think the Big 12 put up gaudy numbers.....both teams threw the h*ll outta the ball and the clock didn't run. If Kiffin gets the offensive line stronger, gets the running backs to pull their heads up outta the sand and finds a quarterback that can dink and dunk without turning the ball over, he will beat the Gators like a rented mule,

Great post! :clapping:

If we can win 7+, be competitve against our rivals and go to (correction:win) a bowl I'll be ok with next year. I think it will take CLK a couple of years worth of recruiting and coaching to get us to 10+ wins. I just think it will take a little time to undo what has been going on with the program the last 3-4years.:eek:k:

welcome to the board chris. i hope getting the o line in better shape and not moving them around during the game will help our run game alot. i dont think that WE ARE TENNESSEE is a valid statement anymore. the SEC has caught up with and passed us.

WE ARE TENNESSEE fits perfect....we don't need a fancy spread offense, we need to run baby run. The clock rules in college football is perfect for a power rushing team, you can start at the 20 and darn near chew a whole quarter up before you score. There was no catching up to us....in UT history we have never been head and shoulders above anyone....if you look through the 80's and 90's we never went and made drastic changes and took that step ahead, the other teams got worse. I believe that this team of young men will take this season very personal and will work hard over the next 8 months and will shock a few people.
