They never stopped trying to flip Kemp from Memphis.

He was going to sign in the early signing period (Nov. of 2007), but the night before signing day, he decided he wasn't ready to sign and wanted to wait until the spring period (April of 2008).

He committed to Tennessee on April 1, 2008 over Kentucky, Texas, and Mississippi St.

Louisville was a finalist. I think it was UK, UofL, and MSU.

It was a very interesting interview, but I thought it was in bad taste to spend the duration of the UT-Bama game talking to Jones live on the air about the Pearl era. In between giving score updates, they were discussing the Pearl era in the context of it being the good times that we miss. That's not entirely untrue, but surely there was a better time to talk to Jones about Pearl than during the game.

I can name Pearl's assistants. I have no clue about Cuonzo's. Is that bad?

Sounds about right. There is that one dude I just refer to as Chris rock. Now I do know Nicodemus, but only because that guy is ripped which is what I like a strength coach to look like.

I researched it yesterday to check and make sure my facts were being correctly remembered, and the Louisville Courier-Journal gave the four schools I listed as his finalists (Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi St. and Texas) in an article from early April 2008.

Its funny only the Black coaches get criticized for "attitude" and how they talk.

Andy Kennedy has a bad attitude. Buzz Peterson was an embarrassment to all English speakers. Cal gets called a whiny p***y every game.
And Tony Jones' attitude is more of arrogance than anything else.

Funny how people only see what they want to see. Also funny how those people are wrong much more than others.

Almost forgot about Buzz Vs. English.

Him saying "fuss-trated" about 2 dozen times every postgame drove me nuts.

Those are not our coaches. I'm talking about our coaches, ex-coaches and potential coaches. I have heard Trooper, Martin, Jones and Strong when we were trying to get him, criticized for how they talk. And they either are too hype with too much energy or they are too boring and not hype enough. Dooley, Sal and Coach O sounded like idiots compared to any of the guys I just named but didn't get a million post about "attitude" and how they talk. Most of our fans can't form a complete thought or speak proper English but talk about any Black coach who doesn't sound like Carlton. We have a thousand post on here saying how Martin mumbles and they can't understand him. They said the same about Strong. Even though they are more accomplished and educated than 90% of our fans and deal with media and fund raising all the time. They say Martin doesn't represent us well off court and bs like that. I think people who aren't blind can tell what they really mean.

I have read ZERO posts talking about how Martin doesn't represent the university well. As for the mumbling posts, its a message board. People were irked at some of the loses and look for crap to bi!c$ about. Not saying their aren't racist people or comments out there but I think your making a mountain out of a molehill here. jmo

Dude is searching for something not there. Randy Sanders was abused for the way he spoke in public. People called Sal retarded. Dooley was called doofus for the way he spoke, among other things. I mentioned buzz. Orgeron was told he sounded like a bumbling Muppet.

Well, I'm apparently off on when UofL was eliminated.
I did some searching, but the best I can find for something that late in the process is just the comments attached to this: Hopson's big night in New York » GoVolsXtra

I don't follow recruiting daily, but I was under the impression that it was more of a Tenn/UK/UofL race, and when it came to decision time, it was Tenn/UK. And, I stretched "finalist" to include UofL. Of course, I have no idea what Hopson was thinking, but from the outside looking in, I never thought MSU or Texas were major contenders by the second half of his senior year of HS. At least, I never expected him to go to one of those schools.

Martin and just about every other coach out there sounds like a genius compared to Sal Sunseri. I had a reporter tell me that he literally thought Sal had a mental disability when he interviewed him.
