Tony Jones Record Predictions

Hell, I'll bite. 7-1. Loss @ UGA

I might change that after seeing the way they attack the first game, but I fully expect them to be up for Florida and Vandy, and they really shouldn't lose to anybody from the west.

01/08/11 at Arkansas
01/11/11 vs. Florida
01/15/11 vs. Vanderbilt
01/18/11 at Georgia
01/26/11 vs. LSU
01/29/11 at Ole Miss
02/03/11 at Auburn
02/05/11 vs. Alabama

I'll go with 5-3. Losses to Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss/Auburn. (Yes Auburn, but probably Ole Miss.)

What say ye?

If they lose to Auburn...:flush:

I've said 6-2 for @ least a week now. I'm sticking with it. 6-2 with a BP win against Uconn. Then they climb to #16, and plummet, before running the table and winning the SEC tourney, to get to a #3 seed, then going one and done in march. Haha. IdK anymore.

8-0. pearl returns and procedes to ruin Tony's perfect run. Pearl is fired and replaced by Tony. Who goes on to win 75% of his games and a national championship. Unfortunately he misses two NCAA tournaments late in his tenure with 2 solid seasons in between. Fans claim program is in shambles. Fire him and bring in BOP1.

I just think this team has at least one more terrible loss in them.

I also think that if Jones can navigate this team to 6-2 or better he'll be a head coach somewhere next year*.

*-NCAA letter of inquiry implications nonwithstanding

Vandy and Florida will be the only real test. But 4-4 is not outside the realm of possibility. I wonder how many minutes Tony will play Steven Pearl in this stretch.

Ole Miss is 10 considerably better than Memphis. Remind me how well the previous trips to Oxford during Pearl's tenure have gone. A win there would be a very nice accomplishment for tony Jones.

You forgot 'fails to win the conference in his final ten seasons.'

7-1. It will be interesting what the 9 game record is, with UCONN in the midst of the suspension. At least we'll see cbp on the sidelines for that one. It woud be SWEET to win that game!

The Arkansas game is a trap to me. Road game, 1st Jones game, coming off a big win, big games coming vs FL/Vandy. That guy who can't spell Rodney will kill us if we play like chumps vs the 3 again. 5-3 to me is likely.

For fun, I looked up our records in the first 8 SEC games throughout Pearl's tenure.

2006: 7-1 (5-3 finish)
2007: 3-5 (7-1 finish)
2008: 7-1 (7-1 finish)
2009: 5-3 (5-3 finish)
2010: 6-2 (5-3 finish)

I think tony will win the games in which Tenn scores more points than the other team. I think they lose the games that they score less.

Just an assumption though.

I'm going with 7 wins and if you get by Vanderbilt then you take all 8.

This very seriously could be Tony's head coach tryout. If it goes well then I think he lands a head coach position somewhere next year.

Looks to me like most of us are being wildly optimistic.

There are 5 matchups I don't like...@Arkansas, Florida, Vandy, @Georgia, @Mississippi.

My guess is we're losing to Vanderbilt. I think @Georgia and @Mississippi are our two toughest road games in this stretch, and I'd predict losses there. The swing games, to me, are Arky and Florida.

If we can steal a win on the road tomorrow, Tony Jones will already be a full game up on the wheels-off scenario. If we can't, it wouldn't be a shocker, but 3-5 would put us on the wrong side of the bubble with two kentucky matchups, @vandy, and @florida remaining.

Tomorrow might be the biggest game of the bunch.
