Too...much...OSU/Michigan...Hype

How many rivalries are as heated? In all reality, Alabama-Auburn is the only other football rivalry on that emotional level. But I can't remember too many times at all in a long while where a lot rides on the Iron Bowl... One of th teams is usually not doing too well. So any other games where as much consistently rides on the line? FSU-Miami, USC-Notre Dame...

I know its my opinion. But like others have said, it's a hard opinion to argue against.
I hope Oklahoma-Texas just slipped your mind.

Alabama-Auburn is the biggest rivalry, end of story. Sorry. I know This one is big, but it is a border rivalry... the Iron Bowl is a BLOOD rivalry. This game has been WAY over-hyped. In fact, you did it again in this post. :p

Auburn Alabama is in no way a bigger rivalry. Face it, if one of those teams wasn't in state, there wouldn't be a rivalry. Just sharing a state doesn't make it a good rivalry.

In years past I have been much more interested in and thought the heat was just as intense for

UF-UT
FSU-Miami
UF-FSU
Bama-Auburn
OU-Texas
and others

All those games get no hype out of the south. And FSU Miami went away when it became the first game of the season. Now I would rather watch paint dry, and would see more action than FSU-Miami. When Miami gets a new coach, they will continue hammering FSU.

How about this... Auburn-Alabama is the biggest rivalry, in the south. Frankly, it really doesn't matter that much to the rest of us.

Fine with me...

You may be able to make a case for most hatred, but still, it hasn't had the least bit of importance in so long.

Really just depends which game means more at the time in the national picture... if Auburn and Alabama were #1 and #2 it would've been the bigger game everywhere around the country.

Yeah, one could definitley make a case to say it's the most heated. No doubt about that.

Kind of... Because of the way the SEC is set up. Yeah, it would obviously have national title implications, but it wouldn't be an inside track. With last night's game, the winner got a one-way ticket to the national title, no questions asked. If Auburn and Alabama were ranked 1/2, the winner would definitley have an inside track to the national title, but there's still the SEC Championship.

Let's hear this one.

Not much to explain. Outside of the south, not a lot of people care about Alabama and Auburn's rivalry, at least not to the same level as they care about Ohio State/Michigan. Part of it is because of the major media attention Michigan and OSU get. People in Washington, California, Arizona, Iowa, etc, really don't care about Alabama-Auburn. But Average Joe fan loves what he's heard on Fox Sports, ESPN, and online about the Big Game.

I meant if Alabama and Auburn happened to be #1 and #2 at the time that it would be the bigger game that particular season. Obviously, you can't have two #1 and #2 games on the same day.

A #1 vs. #2 Ohio State/Michigan game trumps everything, though.

Ahh, we agree then.

What you're saying (and what I think I'm agreeing with) is that if the Iron Bowl was a 1 v 2 11-0 match up, it would be bigger than say a #10 v #16 Big Game. Yes?

I don't think there's that many people out west that care that much about Michigan and Ohio State. Honestly, if it hadn't have been for the national title implications this year, I wouldn't have been that interested. The last few years I've completely missed the game, because I was at the UT game. I didn't care enough to record it. Gameday highlights were plenty sufficient.

I just think too many people drink the SEC Kool-Aid. if you think a 1-2 matchup to end the regular season isn't worthy of the hype it got, not to mention these crazy people that don't believe this was one heck of a game, ya'll are on some good stuff.
