What would happen to a rival fan in Knoxville if they got caught painting that big rock on campus?

Nothing major, since it is painted over all the time. Now, if they messed with neyland's statue or the torch bearer...

I think thats sad. I would be pissed if someone messed with our campus. What an idiot. Some people need to get a life.

Haha - wow - the guy who did it called and bragged about it on the Paul Finebaum show a few weeks early - that's why they tested the soil...

I wonder how good the call logs are and if they record the incoming phone #......

before the iron bowl an auburn fan put a cam newton jersey on the bear bryant statue, this was payback on a much bigger scale.

Gotcha...we've got the 34th Street wall in Gainesville, and rival fans paint it every now and then.

There's one spot on the wall serving as a memorial to the five students who were murdered in 1990. Any rival fan caught messing with that winds up drinking a gallon of paint.

Definitely crossed the line. Hope they get this guy. I know i'd want something done if someone messed with the torch bearer or Neyland's statue.

Happened not too long ago by Kentucky fans, but that's different. They didn't take pick axes or a stick of dynamite to it (not realistic, but for the sake of analogy), which is probably the equivelant of killing their trees.

If the thought of the Rock getting destroyed by Bama, UF, or UGA gets a Vols fan furious, then that same Vols fan should scoff at anyone who suggests that this is no big deal for Auburn fans since they can just plant new trees or transplant adult ones from elsewhere, since we ourselves could just truck in a new boudler to paint on. Almost anything can be replaced, so that shouldn't make a difference.

I hope they are then beaten with the empty paint can.

Think about this a little, it's not near the same thing. It's equivalent to someone poisoning smokey. These ignorant hicks down here are getting ready for a civil war

To me, this is the equivalent of somebody coming on campus and taking a sledgehammer to the rock. Yes, it is a piece of nature and not man built, but the tradition that surrounds it spans for decades.

There is no reason that anyone should poison that tree and to think it is funny is a perfect example of FAIL! :censored:

It isn't so much about the trees, but I am disappointed that someone would feel like this isn't way out of bounds. And the actions of one idiot will inevitably lead to the actions of many idiots. They're gonna have to put security around the Walk of Champions and Denny Chimes because some AU jerkweed will be looking for revenge.

Yep, this was pretty bad. It takes a long time to grow a 130 yr old tree. Like, over a century or somethin.

The scary part is if the Oaks do die, they will have had to have a value put on them (130 year old Oaks = HUGE money). Since these trees are rare and historic, they will be appraised at a much higher rate.

Not sure how things work in Alabama, but here in Illinois when someone trespasses and damages trees..the owner is entitled to triple the cost of the damages.

I personally used the same herbicide (Spike) and it is nasty stuff. A little outdated also.

I hope they catch the people who did this. If convicted, the jail time will be gravy compared to the cost of the damages.

In all honesty, this dude should be found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I'm laughing, but I do feel a little bad about myself for doing so.

You are laughing about this and your big concern (later post) is that someone will vandalize UA?

This is absolutely terrible. I grew up there and as an Auburn fan, I am pissed. Time to tear the bear statue down. Buck Fama and their classless fans. and they just installed cameras on the walk of champions last week in Tuscaloosa. BUCK FAMA!
