I can't bash bruce.
Anyone who thinks we were going to be a 3-4 Loss team this year is living a pipe dream. Yeah I get ticked as anyone, but I was going to figure we would lose at least 7-8 games.
We are VERY, VERY young.

The reason that UT was out of the game from the beginning is because every player on our team was awestruck by Allen Field House and the video that plays 10 seconds prior to tip-off. When I watched our team watch that video, I knew it would be a rocky start...I just didn't realize how rocky.

What was the video?

his d and decision making are embarrassing. Take away the late 3s and it was much uglier.

Agreed. Wayne has potential, but he just seems to be lacking in basketball IQ. He plays soft at times. Wayne needs to develop a mean streak, and go to the boards like he owns them. STOP JACKING UP 3'S!!!!

Hell, it's not just Wayne. Have you ever seen a team miss more shots from inside 2' of the goal? Stop pump faking and take it to the hole with authority. We are timid.

What was the video?
It was basically this video, however, there were certain tweaks to it (the presentation was much more intimidating in today's video). All of our players were watching, wide eyed and completely awestruck.

So far Maze isn't what he was supposed to be ( The Solution or something like that ) . Kansas had a terrific leader at the point , TN does not . I'm not bashing Maze here b/c my team is in the same boat . You have to have one guy ( ususally the point guard ) who is the coach on the floor. One man to be the true leader . Maze may turn into this guy as with Evans @ Mem. , right now their not . JMO

It is really frustrating watching this team. Really both ends of the floor. No one seems to hustle unless they are going for the individual "score" or "block".

I am very concerned about our lack of "team" on both ends of the floor. No team offense/defense just sporadic individual effort outside of a few alley oops. Tyler is about the only go to guy and he's looked out of control half the time.

And what happened to our trap? Are we that slow? I was really expecting our trap to be better this year with the athletes and length we have but we have taken 2 steps back.

I hope we have enough conference wins and time to do something to work out of this funk.

Go Vols

lets face it there is no team right now.
Bruce has not found the switch to turn them on yet either.
stop saying they are young.

look what Pat did today with her youngest team ever..
least amount of pts in 1st half ever, biggest deficit by a summit team ever.
SHE CHALLENGE THEM AT THE HALF WITH EXACTLY WHAT NEEDED TO BE SAID.

they responded and won an incredible game.

wish the men had the heart the ladies do

It was a pathetic game by a young team in a very intimidating road environment. We are lucky they didn't lose by 50 after the Temple game. Maybe they will learn to stop the stupidity and play basketball. I can't predict that, but I remember getting down on our team after the South Carolina blowout loss 2 years ago, so I'm not sure what to think yet. We can beat just about anyone and we can lose to just about anyone. I think our issues can be fixed, but I'm not sure they will be........ I did expect to lose this game. I tuned over to the Lady Vols game for a lot of the 2nd half.

Appears uncoached. Need to go back to the chaos of press and drop back to 3-2. Offense should go through Smith and Hopson.

Hopson had tiny white slug guarding him today and never went to the post. I don't get it.

Hopson has been a cataclysmic disappointment on both ends of the floor.

Very true. I couldn't see the team's reaction but heck, I was awestruck and had chillbumps from watching it. Incredible place for college basketball. I look forward to the day when we have a history of that caliber and a crowd to compliment it. It was almost a religious feeling in The Phog. I now have a great respect for the Jayhawk nation.

I don't think so. Defensively, he has played as expected. Offensively, he continues to defer and shouldn't be. I've been impressed with his offensive skill.

Hopefully he'll improve, but to this point he plays zero defense. And I mean zero.

His shot has been somewhat servicable. He has strictly been a spot-up shooter after not getting his first half-dozen runners in the lane even close to the basket early in the season.

His ball handling has been attrocious. He can't dribble more than three times without having the ball come in contact with his shin.

I guess I bought too much of the hype. He's playing just like a freshman.

I would also like to add...

11) JP Prince was allowed to play (stellar again today at 2 of 8 shooting and 5 personal fouls). He is awesome.

12) Bobby Maze is our point guard (4 assists, 4 turnovers)
13) We shot 3s worse than my church league team (until the last 2 minutes when they didnt count)

Bobby Maze is fine. He should actually be more of a scoring option for us. His assist to turnover ration has been stellar all season until this past Saturday

I'm going to have to disagree with that one. He had some nice games early on, but over his last 3 games he has 8 assists and 10 turnovers. I just see him as "the solution" to our point guard problem.

IMO he is a possible 2 guard off the bench, unless we are now ok with starting mediocrity. The trouble is, we are ridiculously thin in the guard position right now.

We're not thin in the guard position. Did you mean Point Guard?

Care to elaborate on that?

We are very thin at guard right now. Maze is mediocre or slightly better. Hopson has not impressed thus far, and his defense is non-existent. J.P. Prince, although Bruce plays him at guard, has none of the actual "skills" that would be commonly associated with good guard play such as being able to make a jump shot or handle the ball well in a pressure situation. He is a slasher-type who can drive, (and another one who also doesn't play defense). Tatum and Woolridge are not guards.

So that leaves......Josh Tabb?

I'd say we are quite thin at guard since Lofton, JaJuan, & Ramar are no longer here.

Basketball at this level is simple! The best coach in NCAA history said it best. Defense and Rebounding!!!! That is how Pat wins, and with 994 wins and counting who can argue? Until this team plays "D" we cannot hang with the great programs. Bottom line is Hopson needs to attack the rim on offense, and these guys really need to stop taking 3's so much. Maybe if everygame was started with TN at a 16 point deficet, we would play harder at the start
