First, i'm dissappointed. I know its easier to emotionally support and talk about a team with a history, but we just made history last year. Second, this forum hasn't produced any current information about this team. This team has 10 guys who want nothing more than to repeat last year' sucesses. And last, Bruce Pearl silenced all of the critics this year. In a way, we all better be ready because you are about to witness some of the best competition in UT basketball history.

we have some ruff years ahead for Football, but I am extremely exited about basketball. Pearl has put a great team together and working on recruiting really hard.

Some people write on here about the basketball team, but if it is positive about our coach or our players, there will always be a big group of regulars who show up to defecate on it.

I'm all Vol, but basketball season is way easier to get excited about!
1) We're good
2) We'll win more than half our games
3) We schedule games against really good OOC opponents (the football team does one decent opponent, the rest are cupcakes)
4) We have a successful and awesome coach
5) We've consistently been getting great recruits (since CBP got here)

Yeah when you weigh everything, this basketball season is WAY more anticipated (to me) and it's going to be WAY more exciting and we'll have WAY less of a losing percentage (compared to the football team). GO VOLS!!

PS, very bad move bringing UK into our basketball rally. SHAME!!

I am excited about our bball team this year and cannot wait until the season starts.... however Football season is before that, so for now my attention is to the football team. The basketball team will get their attention soon enough. :)

I'm approaching this football season this way: you may beat us in football, but we'll get you back in basketball.

It sounds a little bandwagonish to say that you are more excited about the basketball season just because we are good and you don't think we will be in football.

I love UT basketball and basketball is my favorite sport to play but nothing will ever surpass watching and rooting for UT football, no matter how bad we are.

There also really isn't a lot of news about the basketball program. Basketball practices are pointless to follow and the RTL is over. Recruiting is interesting but there are only a few commits each year. Everything in the media right now is geared toward the football season and with good reason....it's going to be a very interesting one even if we suck.

If we are awful, try to take enjoyment in watching veterans boost their NFL stock and the young guys grow and mature as players. We have a good, solid base of young players so good times should be on the way in a few years.

I'm saying the exact same thing you are except from the basketball perspective. I love UT football, and football is my favorite sport (the only one I was good at haha), but nothing will ever surpass watching and cheering for UT basketball. Ever.

10 years from now, you're going to look back at this time and remember how ut basketball was so much better than ut football.

We'll laugh while we look at our football AND basketball championship trophies. Things will certainly get better with football; I'm praying our basketball team will keep on keeping on.

I dont understand how ut fans are so excited about such an inferior football team. The most exciting part of half of our games this season will be running through the T. Once the clock starts, fans will be tucking their tails between their legs. By the end of the football season, I hope most of you finally realize how much UT basketball means to our university.

Im excited about this football season. But im not lookin forward to getting spanked by AL and FL.

Fans talk all day about the color of coach DD's underwear and dont even know the expectations of our basketball team this season.

that only matters to one school in the SEC (and they haven't beaten us in 25 years)

I hate this thread... do folks like you (the OP) find yourselves unaware of the expression "state of affairs?"

Tennessee is a football school, but we're also multifaceted in terms of athletics... so when our flagship program is in a bad spot, we're in the fortunate position of having other sports to look forward to. Yes, our men's b-ball is at the height of its power, but that will never mean we are a basketball school.

Crikey.

Basketball > Football. I can't wait for basketball season. I'm already sick of this football season and it hasn't even started. Way too much drama.
