My real memories are 1990 to present but I have seen lots of old games on ESPN Classic. My five, in no particular order, are:

Peyton Manning
Michael Vick (in particular his freshman year)
Desmond Howard (for some reason he sticks out in my mind)
Cam Newton
Herschel Walker

Just missed 5

Reggie Bush
Peter Warrick
Tommy Frazier
Jamal Lewis
Neon Dieon

Me and a buddy had a good time killing conversation today. Each came up with a top 5 list of college football players that every time they were on could not look away. We had a top 5 then a just missed 5. Most of us on here will have some Tennessee players on here. That's why it's in this forum. My list was.

Top 5 in no order
Johnny Football
Peter Warrick
Adrian Peterson
Eric Berry
Lavar Arrington

Just missed 5
Warrick Dunn
Ricky Williams
Jamal Lewis
Michael Vick
Keyson Johnson

Love him or hate him Mike Vick has to be in the top 5 college players ever.He alone set up Tech's dynasty!!!

One can tell the age of the posters on this board by the names who show u on this topic. How can one omit Doug Atkins or OJ Simpson. I realize these players played in the 5os but they were on the all Century team for the 1900s.

Dick Butkus, Troy Akiman, Dale Jones, Reggie White, Barry Sanders, H.Walker, Bill Bates, Randle Cobb, Chuck Webb, Peyton Manning, Joey Kent, the whole defense in 97-98, should I go on.....? I know it's more than just five but hard to nail down just five though.

Clowney. That guy is a beast. Always fun to watch him embarrass Tackles and destroy QB's and RB's.

Yes revealed. That was what our 5 & just missed 5 was about. Just those 10 players who you personally just got excited everytime they were on the field. Not the best players that helped there team the most or even won championships just exciting. And it could only be 10.

One more year gaining weight. And he will definitely be on mine. He has just scratched the surface on his wow factor.

Why do people over rate Tebow so much? Put Vince Young or 10 other dual threat qbs with the Gators and the win it 3 or 4 straight. Harvin and Murphy saved his horrible passing with great catches. They were stacked. He was a product of hype and a great team.

Well, between college and pro careers,

I'd say Eric Berry, Peyton, RGIII, Calvin Johnson...

...And Johnny Football.

Cam Newton and Denard Robinson are fun to watch too; they just seem to have a lot of fun playing.

Herschel walker
Lawrence Taylor
Deion Sanders
Earl Campbell
Reggie White

So many people on here don't have

Herschel. Walker at the top of the list is insane. Most people I know who has been watching college football since the early 80s say there is no doubt that he is there #1 guy!!
