INXS
Iggy Pop
The Ramones
The B-52's
The Police/Sting
Loverboy
.38 Special
The Offspring
Duran Duran
Depeche Mode
Peter Gabriel/Phil Collins/Genesis
Fleetwood Mac
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Van Halen

I'm pretty sure they don't qualify as their first album wasn't until the late 80's and didn't rise to mainstream until mid 90's. I'm also pretty sure no one knew who they were, unless you lived in Cali and attended local shows, until the album Smash which was released in 1994.

My contribution

Pink Floyd
Yes
The Allman Brothers Band
The Who
Deep Purple
Tom Petty
Neil Young
Bruce Springsteen
Bob Dylan
Bob Seger
Judas Priest
Tom Waits
Pixies
Fleetwood Mac
The Traveling Wilburys
ZZ Top
Cheap Trick
Motley Crue
Rossington Collins Band
Scorpions
R.E.M
Van Halen
Guns N' Roses
Dire Straits

Man so many choose from this era and this isn't even my generation. It could go on and on.

The lead singer screwed them over then with that horrific voice of a nasally witch.

Crazy talk man...I'm not a huge Rush fan but Geddy Lee's voice works with Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson. Great trio.

And Neil Peart is a God among infants for drummers.

Sorry man. I think they suck. Today's Tom sawyee is high on blah blah. Can't stand 10 seconds of any of their songs if his witchy voice is heard.

To each his own. I know people that liked Garardo too. Rico suave.

Like a said, not a huge fan but their a group of musicians at the top of their craft. While I may not like Lee's nasal tone all the time, I always appreciate their skills as musicians.

And, Peart is the leader of the band, not Geddy.

Golden Earring deserves an honorable mention. Radar Love is one of my all time favorite songs.

Most of today's music really sucks. There was some great music that came from the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. Rock n roll died in the early 1990's.
