MHF doing flips and everything else trying to get Hat's attention.

So cute.

Evidence that they have been willing and able to replace top notch coaches in the past suggests they might be able to do it in the future, as well.

And afterward, allow them to go on and make radio magic. The Joe B. Hall/Denny Crum radio show is absolutely edge of your seat, pushing the envelope, scentillating stuff.

Not really. Its more like listening to two nursing home patients mumble over a good bowl of jello.

But your point about UL is right on.

That bank commercial they show during the UK network broadcasts with Hall "making" a halfcourt shot is some of the worst television of all time.

Cotton would you make a list of top programs.

If you start with the post-UCLA era in '76, I'd put Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and UNC in a class by themselves.

UConn, Louisville, Michigan St make up the next group. Syracuse and Georgetown are behind, with special mention to Florida and Michigan.

I really don't know where to put Indiana or UCLA on the list. If you measured the Hoosiers 5 years ago, there's no question they belong in the first group; if you measure them today, they are off the board. The Bruins probably belong in the second group over that time period, but their complete dominance in the period before deserves at least an asterisk.

I don't really put much stock in such lists. They usually fail to measure either a program's status today or take into account historical perspective accurately, but since you asked, that's about how I would rank them.

I've heard it. You forgot to mention discussions about fishing every three minutes, but other than that, it is a pretty good description.

If it tells you anything, it was dropped from the lineup on local radio in Hopkinsville. I think re-runs of the morning farm report replaced it.

There are 10 teams (IMO) that fill the quota for the top tier. (in no particular order)

Kansas
Kentucky
North Carolina
Duke
UCLA
Indiana (not for awhile, but I believe will be back soon)
UConn
Arizona
Louisville
Syracuse/Mich St/UNLV/G-town/NC State/Take your pick

I'm not sure I understand the Zona love.

I'm not sure I understand the Zona love.

Its subjective really. You take Zona or any of those last 5 teams I placed at #10 and you could swap them out. But they have a pretty solid background.

Since 1985 they have:

1 National Championship

1 National Runner Up

4 Final fours

8 elite eights

14 sweet sixteens

24 straight tournament appearances, minus the one vacated in 1999.

22 of 24 seasons with 20+ wins.

I have yet to run the complete statistics of those other programs mentioned, but they can't be much better.

I don't particularly love Arizona. I just don't think there is a huge difference between them and the teams listed at #10.

Also, Louisville should be in front of Zona on that list. That was my bad.

Start with Michigan St. I started around '76, but since that time they have 6 FF and 2 NCs.

When talking about the best nationally, I don't really put a lot of weight on anything short of Final Fours and national titles. Using that measure, Arizona has exactly the same resume as Arkansas.

Conference championships would also factor in if I took the time to look them up.
