Any list of all-time great teams that has segregation era teams like the '61 Bama teams has the credibility of Tom DeLay speaking about campaign finance reform.

The '01 Miami team vs. the '71 Nebraska team would be the football equivalent of Ike Turner vs. Tina Turner.

Miami's speed on defense would ball that primative option Nebraska ran up and shove it down their throats. The name player off of that Nebraska team was Johnny Rodgers, who was a complete bust in the NFL. As time passes and the guys off the '01 Canes continue to rack up Pro Bowls, people will look back and realize there has never been a more loaded college roster.

How far back are you going? Marciano fought black fighters. Joe Louis was the champion. Jack Johnson was too. I'm not sure when boxing was actually segregated.

I'm not in disagreement about the segregation point.Just asked your opinion.By the way, Miami blew Virgina Tech out 26-24 in 2001 season. :biggrin2:

What were the scores against nationally ranked Syracuse, Washington, Florida State, and Nebraska?

Tech had a failed two point conversion and Miami had 4 interceptions!
Since you avoided the question, here you go:
UM-49 FSU-27
UM-59 SYR-0
UM-65 UW-7
UM-37 NEB-14, with Miami leading 28-0 in the middle of the second quarter.

The difference in the quality of athletes makes it an unrealistic comparison. The '01 FSU team, as mediocre as its record was, had vastly superior athletes to the '71 OU team.

I see your point. But Tee didn't play out in the NFL.Look how great he did in college.Eric Crouch?Spurrier great coach in college, total failure in NFL.My UGA friend told me yesterday Herschel Walkers professional career was kinda of a bust.

Walker was not even close to being an NFL bust. In fact, I think he ended his career in the top 20 as far as all purpose yards. It's just that after the USFL folded, he just played for some NFL teams that went nowhere.

I wouldn't consider Herschel's pro career a bust. He actually finished with rather impressive numbers. Tee didn't make the NFL, but look at all the guys off the '98 team who did. Number of NFL players isn't the only indicator of the quality of a given college team, but it's sure a good one.

My understanding Oklahoma set ncaa rushing records that still stand today coached by O/C Barry Switzer.

Like I said, this is my UGA grad bulldog friend stating this. All I can see is he thought Hershels college years were such that he expected the same domination in the NFL.

Walker definitely got elevated to God-like status around these parts. Much of it was deserved, but at some point it got ridiculous.
