My understanding Oklahoma set ncaa rushing records that still stand today coached by O/C Barry Switzer.
A huge part of that was the novelty of the Wishbone. It was still a new phenomenon and nobody had really come up with any meaningful defensive strategy against it. OU's teams in '73, '74, and '75 were vastly superior to the '71 team.

Walker definitely got elevated to God-like status around these parts. Much of it was deserved, but at some point it got ridiculous.
Herscel was a tremendous runner. However, from a talent standpoint, I never felt he was in Bo Jackson's league. In college, Herschel was faster than the big guys and bigger than the fast guys. It doesn't work that way in the NFL. The big guys are fast and the fast guys are big.

I think it's a toss up between '01 Miami and '95 Nebraska. Normally, I'd go with the speed of Miami against the option, but what Nebraska did to Florida that year was just unreal.

I just find it hard to believe there was ever a better rivalry than those two schools. Sooners vs Huskers).IMO, Miami was a great team, but over 50 plus years, hard to see them as the best.Actually,95 Nebraska was tough with Lawrence Phillips.

Florida couldn't run the ball. I think Clinton Portis, Willis Mcgahee, and Najeh Davenport would be able to do so.

As an Emmitt Smith fan, it's weird to say this, but I've come to grips with it. It's my humble opinion that Barry Sanders was the best ever. It's too bad that playing for a POS team like the Lions put him into early retirement.

He's the best I've ever seen live. It should be illegal for a man that big to be that fast.

After the '02 season. They didn't lose. The officials gift wrapped that one for the Buckeyes.

That was at the end of the 2002 seasons . . . and it was due to one of the worst calls on a big play that I've ever seen. Miami literally had the game won.

I was pulling for Miami actually.
I'll be down on South Beach this week. If you want to send me your contact information, I'll give it to Ed Reed and Sean Taylor. You can tell them you think the '71 Nebraska team would beat them.

They're the only one to win them all. I think the argument about the evolution of bigger, faster athletes probably applies to the NFL. That doesn't diminish how great an accomplishment going undefeated was.

It's actually starting to look like I'm going to be transferred down here. Guess I'll have to pick up Canes and Phins season tickets.
