There are several I know but if I had to pick one that hit me in the gut, it would have to be the UGA/UT I was at in 2001 when we let UGA come down the field late and score on us. I was there and the UGA fans were rabid!:banghead: :bad:

'bama in '93. We were up by 8 I believe late in the game and (David Palmer?) scored a TD and 2 point conversion to tie.

Also, Auburn '90. We were up by 2 TDs and they came back and tied us...

Florida '95. The 37 unanswered points after we were up 30-14 at one point in first half. :puke:

Georgia '01.

Let's see....

Bama 05'-Anderson fumble at the one yard line

S Carolina 05'-Last second field goal. Offense couldn't capitalize on mistakes on opponent

Georgia 03'-I think we actually had a considerable shot to win this thing if it wasnt for the fumble that Georgia returned for a touchdown with time expired in the first half. Momentum could have been on our side.

LSU 01' (SEC Championship)-Had it in the first half and completely dominated in the second.

Georgia 01'-32 seconds was all it took for Georgia to drive down the field and score.

Florida 00'-I'm still convinced he didn't catch that ball.

Memphis 96'-Horrible call on a punt return helped memphis win this one. His elbow was clearly touching the ground.

Florida 95'- Up considerably at the half and were horribly beaten in the second half with the final score 62-37

South Carolina 92'-Maybe we weren't meant to win, but we certainly should have tied. Majors decided to go for two instead of playing it safe.

Bama 90'-Many Alabama games come to mind, but the one in 1990 sticks out because of a blocked field goal that could have given UT the victory. Instead, it set up Alabama for their last second win.

....These are just a few of the games that come to mind in the past 10-15 years.

Here are a few:

79. The What Are Rutgers game. How did we manage to lose that game, then come back the next week to demolish Notre Dame.

80. We would've, should've beaten both Georgia and USC.

86. Take your pick. Mississippi St, Army, Ga Tech. This was, for the most part, the same team which crushed Miami in the Sugar Bowl, and with the schedule we had, 86 easily should've been a ten win season :disappointed:

87. Boston College. I was listening on the radio and the best I remember Randy Sanders put on a clinic of how not to play QB.

88. I don't even want to talk about it.

90. Colorado. Why in the world are we running a draw on that final play

90. Auburn. We had it and let Auburn come back and win.

90. Bama. Blocked fg that led to their winning fg, but we never should've been in that position in the first place. We had one of our best offenses ever. Why were we so damned scared to throw against Alabama.

90. Notre Dame. Probably one of AndyKelly's best games ever, except for one pass. We easily should've been 13-0 in 1990 and National Champions.

91. Bama. Same as in 90, we were entirely too conservative on offense.

92. Arkansas. No excuse

92. South Carolina. Terrible 2 pt play, but it never should have come to that in the first place.

93. Alabama. We dominated the game and let David Palmer come back and tie it with a td and 2 pt conversion.

94. Mississippi St. We had that game and gave it away in the 2nd half with what, three or four fumbles in our own territory.

95. Florida. We were up 30-14 and just fell apart.

96. Memphis. Terrible call on the kickoff return, but our offense was awful.

00. Florida. Gafney's touchdown drop. That call was ridiculous.

01. Georgia. How did they manage to come back with just about 30 seconds or so.

05. Alabama. That game was almost a carbon copy of the game in 90.

05. Vandy. There is no excuse for any Tennessee team to EVER lose to Vandy.

This thread makes me sad. :(

Look at it this way . . . Most of us can vividly remember every single loss. A lot of schools lose so much that the losses all run together.

You're such a positive thinker.

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side. :whistling:

what does everyone think of my theory that CPF is a coach who will hide half his playbook from a next opponent at the risk of losing a game to a lesser opponent? Or do the Vols just make it seem that way by playing at the level required to beat who's on that saturday?

I for one think that Fulmer can't afford to do anything like that this year. Might as well open up the playbook and do it to it.

But I'm sure he's played vanilla before...

That '01 UGA game was the third loudest UT moment I can remember. When Stephens took the screen to the left and scored, that place went insane.

We had the worse fan ever behind us.He was a UGA fan.I didn't get mad because I tend to overlook idiots but he must have been (to steal Hat's line) shoveling snow prior to the game.Alot of snow.

The '90 Auburn game was a tie, not a loss. The '90 loss to Alabama is by far the worst in my 30 years of following UT football.

Not only was I there, I was sitting in the UGA Section. Damn that old man in the green jacket for selling me those tickets.

So were the 90 Colorado and the 93 Bammer games. The title of the thread is games we should have won, and I think all three of those fall into that category. I agree with you about the 90 Bammer game. That one took a long time to get over.

'05 Vandy Game! :banghead: :banghead:

I can see losing to the Alabama's, the Florida's and UGA's but to "That other School" (I will never say the "V" word again!) at NEYLAND, I still wake up in a cold sweat at night :ill_h4h:

I'm sure this has already been said, but the 01 SEC championship game loss kept UT out of playing for the NC that year.

92 Fiesta Bowl loss to Penn State, up big at halftime and UT let them come back and win.

1990 Notre Dame. I think Rocket Ismael had two punts returned for TDs and we just kept kicking it to him.

The amount of talent on the field that day was unreal. You could field the basis of a good NFL team from the guys who played in that one.

That was the best college football game that I have ever witnessed. Everthing was spectacular except for the walk back to the hotel room.
