Top Gear (UK)

chill, limey. You got to remember that bbcamerica is finally becoming more mainstream so more of us are getting to see it now. Its comedy style is completely different than anything we have and throw is that their commentary on the individual cars is pretty fun. Plus there are many cars that we don't get to see here. I'm not a car guy by any means but I enjoy it.

Try watching the TG that we have here in the US and you'll see why many like yours more.

Yours is more of a car program than ours, ours is just the same thing over and over again. Maybe it's because we have had it for so long... I used to love it, but there are only so many times I can watch three guys race each over across a country in three different transport methods, heavily rigged so they finish together...

Each to their own, but, I have become super immune to it's charm. The people who watch TG here, don't really like cars, it's become a main stream trash show.

So ... do William and Harry have the same daddy or not?

Don't get what Stephen is saying, sounds like blasphemy to me! I love Top Gear. The start to the latest series has been slightly below par but it usually gets better towards the end especially where challenges are concerned.

Anyone think BBC will re-instate Jeremy if allegations are true that he punched a producer? The remainder of this series is being cancelled according to the BBC. Episodes 8/9/10 aren't going to be shown.

Or will they go all the way and kill one of the most popular shows in the world? On their network at least. Supposedly other networks have tried to pull Jeremy/James/Richard away from BBC.

I've grown tired of clarksons antics. Good riddance.

We need the loud, boorish oaf to add a comedic quality. He is playing a caricature. With that said, he has moments where his shtick wears thin. I was not amused when he was driving the Ford Velacoraptor up the mountain to "rescue" Hammond. Any idiot knows you don't run full throttle with snow chains. But because he acted daft, we got to see that machine make it up the snow covered hill with 3 tires. That was impressive.
BBC would be unwise to mess with a formula that produces 350 million viewers worldwide. If they do, I would love for the trio to move to another broadcasting company.

I was talking with a friend last night and came up with a couple of replacements for Clarkson, both are from Fifth Gear. Tiff Needell or Vicki Butler-Henderson. Neither of which bring the oafish comedy relief that Clarkson is known for, but both are petrolheads and Vicki is pretty easy on the eyes.

Vicki. I don't like tiff's voice. Both were on the original top gear.

In a twist of irony, Ben Collins could be brought in as well. However, I don't think I've ever seen him on camera not dressed as the Stig.

Actually you have. There is an early episode where a parachute guy lands in a convertible. Ben Collins is the driver.

He also helped out with those disabled veterans who were going to race a Bowler Wildcat in the Paris-Dakar rally.

I like the cast better. Tanner is awesome.

Thats one of the reasons i hate it. The fun of top gear is watching the cast compete against each other in silly competitions. Tanner is a professional driver, the other 2 goons cant hold a candle to him and he wins everything.

According to Clarkson's article in the paper, he has quit the show. Top Gear on the BBC with Clarkson as a host is no more.

I didn't think he article explicitly said "I'm quitting". He throws out hints and phrases that he may not be back.

At the end of this season the bbc was going to have to sign a new contract with him. Before this that was likely. Now he, James, and Richard will get loads of money thrown at them by other stations. Top gear as it is now may not continue but I feel pretty certain that the three can continue to host a factual and informative motoring program in the near future if they want.
