Top Gun Maverick

My only complaint (and this isn't even really one, more of I wish they'd done this instead)

He's a Navy pilot, period. Makes it very obvious. If he was going to restore/ have a hobby plane. I think it should have been the premiere NAVY fighter of WWII and not the Army Air Corps fighter. He should have been rebuilding a F4U Corsair not a P51D Mustang. Then again, they may have had issues acquiring one. Pretty sure there are more Mustangs than Corsairs still flying

I don't know enough about planes/military to notice that.

I was so excited about them bringing in Penny Benjamin and was looking forward to that story. That was a big let down for me.

And I was expecting a little more from the Maverick/Rooster story too.

I still loved it, just wish there had been a little more to those 2 stories

The P-51 is actually Tom Cruise personally owned plane.

Unlike the F18s that's actually him flying Jennifer Connelly at the end of the film.

IMAX is the only way to see this movie. It was a killer movie. There isn't much they could have done to make it better in the timeframe they were constricted to. Two thumbs up from me. The original got a standing ovation when I went to it back in the day and this one got a lot of applause at the end. That's rare at a movie theater.

This might be the first movie I've not read or heard of any negative reviews! I'm sure they are out there but have heard only glowing reviews. Gonna have to finally break down and go see it!

Saw it today 8.5/10 to me. Some of the tribute stuff to the original was a bit hokey, but it did tie the movies together. Certainly this sequel is a good movie on it’s own. I 100% agree that it’s a film to be watched on the big screen if possible.

I went to see TG when it first came out (I think it was early summer '86) and it got a standing O in the theatre I was at too... I went to see TGM today and wanted to cheer but StarBearette put an end to that rather quickly

I really didn’t care to see it but my mom asked me to take her. Saw it today and enjoyed it. Would have been better in an IMAX type theater. The cockpit scenes were exciting.

The story was meh. Who was the enemy again? Rogue nation with 5th Gen Aircraft and surface to air missiles? Hell call it Cobra if we are going pure fiction here. Just call it something other than generic enemy LOL.

While the original definitely has a place in my childhood, the nostalgia didn’t land for me.

For that I go 6.5/10

IMO it was China they just didn't want to say it was China.

I dunno… since when are we attacking uranium enrichment in China. They are a well established nuclear power. That’s a WW3 action.

I mean the story is really about the pilot relationships. The mission training is the story conflict. The mission it’s self it kinda secondary. I Just had a hard time getting past generic enemy.

I could have swore they mentioned Iran by name. That's also why they had the leftover f14s from back when we sold them to the Shah. That said, I'd love to know how the hell iran could pull off 5th gen fighters. Only the US/nato , Russia, and China are that advanced.

Quite a bit of snow for Iran.
