I don't expect very many really high recruits in the next class, but I think dooley will get people he can develop on the lines to be productive.

With Dooley needing to load up on linemen next year, we should probably not expect a top 5 class. Those positions don't pull too many glamour ratings. But, recruiting rankings aside, that is where we need the bodies.

I think as Dooly said with solid effort UT isnt a hard to sell.. I think we will continue to recruit solid as usual. More important is how much better they get and how they fit into the system once they get here.

That has been our problem, especially the last two years. The defense has been good enough, but the offense kept them on the field a lot.

Offense has been our big problem. Monte put up a top 25 defense last year with massive problems in the front seven. His d was top 15 before all the linebacker injuries. Chavis' consistently put a strong defense on the field. Even during losing seasons they were top 5/10 in the country. Special teams and offense have been subpar.

In 06 the defense was garbage, though.

I agree, our defense was all we had the first half of last year, and all of 2008. And it wasn't just good because our offense was bad, either. We had a strong defense the last two seasons, statistically and actually.

The last sentence you wrote is spot on.

I think CJW is being put in a tough situation. The last two coordinators were successful, but they had Eric Berry, and depth in the front 7.

CJW needs to work miracles.

for this year he will need to be a magician. Should get markedly better in'11 assuming these guys can recruit with the top of the sec as I think they can

No telling if we will land any 5 stars when we don't even know what recruits will be 5 star yet. There were 26 5*s in this class (unusually low number). This was the distribution of those players:

USC-5
UF-4
Cal-2
Auburn-2
FSU-2
Texas-2
UCLA-1
WVU-1
Bama-1
Mich State-1
South Carolina-1
Oregon-1
Tennessee-1
N.C. State-1
LSU-1

Obviously, schools like UF, USC, LSU, Bama, Texas, and FSU pull those kids. Why should we wonder if we are capable to land 5*s when schools like Cal, Auburn, UCLA, WVU, MSU, NCSU, Oregon, MSU, and South Carolina are pulling them in, too? You don't have to be a top 10 school to land top recruits.

And I'm trying to figure out what you mean by "just settle in like Georgia has seem to do." They are just about as consistent recruiting as you can get. I'd love to see us land the talent they do. You do realize that in the classes from 2002-2009, UGA was the only team to have a top 10 class every year? This is their numbers:

No doubt, that is very consistant. If they were coached better.......
