I think it'll be Tressel who gets the majority of the punishment. Hopefully they get at least a one-year bowl ban.

Urban Cryer would have not taken the job if he thought they were geting any serious penalties. Just a slap on the hand.:spank:

If pearl can lie about a BBQ and get a 3 year show cause, then Tressel should be banned for life in order for the system to remain "Fair and balanced."

But, it won't. He probably won't even get a one year show cause.

As much as i liked him, what Pearl did was essentially lying to the cops...twice (the second time when they already knew he did it and pretty much had the evidence behind their backs)

Edit: wrote the last part poorly and detracts from point trying to make, so just removed

Unless tressel lied directly to the NCAA during their investigation, then no, it's not near the same

Really?

Tressel definitely lied to the NCAA when he signed whatever document it was that said he had no knowledge of the players benefits.

I misworded the point I was trying to make a bit (thanks though for clearing up that aspect a bit more) but my point though was that - unfortunately - what pearl did was worse in the eyes of those dealing a ruling [equate then to cops, investigators, the court, whatever] (again I liked him, but his punishment wasnt so harsh because of the BBQ incident, it was because he lied to their faces...twice...during an investigation...once when they had the evidence and knew but were willing to come give him a last chance to come clean)....so no this really shouldn't be really viewed as on the same level, "just world", etc

(still feels like I didn't get that out correctly)

(not that it all really matters though, you likely won't see tressel back coaching in college at D1 for quite some time, if ever...however, if the NCAA is actually coming down harshly on schools as they claim, I actually could see them taking it to a show cause for him)

Can't believe they didn't get more. Should have lost scholarships and recruiting visits and calls.

At the moment, it doesn't look like they're throwing out anything like the "Jrs/Srs can transfer without penalty" that they gave USC

I may be wrong about this, but I believe that anytime a team is banned from post season play then the classes for the total time of the ban can transfer. USC got a two year ban so both Jrs and Srs could transfer.
