Toughest part of the schedule is yet to come....

yes. We have a shot. UF was a worse team when Missouri played them than when we did. And it was on their field.

Anyway, there is a good chance that they pound us and there is a good chance that we beat them.

There's both a good chance that they beat the crap out of us and a good chance that we beat them? Huh?

There's a better chance that former rather than the latter happens IMHO. If SCar can somehow beat Mizzou this week then maybe the "bubble bursts" with them confidence-wise and we can somehow steal one.

Yes, I was making a funny...

I looked on an ESPN mock bowl games for 2013. As of week 8, it has us playing Marshall in the AutoZone game at Liberty Bowl. OR the BBVA game against Cincinnati.

Memphis would be a good bowl game for us to travel to. Bad area of town, but easy game to travel to.-

Auburn is definitely a good team, but some of their wins were less than impressive. We have a good shot against them IMO.

Within driving reach of me as well. I could do the Liberty Bowl, but I would hate having to go to East Arkansas.

One thing I've noticed with team 117, is how well coached they are.
From a discipline aspect, few penalties, few turnovers. To how prepared they are for their opponent week in and week out.
No doubt I trust this coaching staff.
GO BIG OrANGE!!

The OP's point is valid...but I get sick of people saying Justin Worley is not a "decent" QB. He is not the second coming of Peyton by any means, but he is learning his position and just QB'd our biggest win in years. And I still consider the Mizzou and AU games tossups. Maybe I am dreaming but this team is coming on strong and beating a good team will mean a world of difference to these young men. At this level, much of the game is mental...I don't see us beating Bama but I think we split the other two games. Time will tell.

So Mizzou moped the floor with UF, who beat us, but we have a good shot to beat them on their field?.....

pretty much. Teams beat teams all the time in that scenario. 1 game doesn't mean UT can't beat Mizzou on their field. UT played a horrific game vs Florida and started Peterman who played over half of the game. Circumstances change from week to week.

I think going 7-5 would be an epic year for the entire program, much less Butch himself.

When did the definition of epic change?

7-5 is never epic! Yes, it would be a good year with better days to come, but epic? No.

At the beginning of the year, I think most people agreed that the toughest stretch of our schedule began with Oregon and ended with Alabama.

While Oregon was most certainly our toughest game of the year so far, in hindsight, I think the real tough stretch begins with Alabama and ends with Auburn.

Nobody knew that Florida would be such a joke or that Georgia would be decimated by injury. If we had a decent QB and could have capitalized a little more on mistakes, we could be sitting here at 6-1 and nationally ranked. We chalked those up as losses before the season started, however, we now know that Missouri and Auburn, which were once considered toss-up games on our schedule, may actually be two of the toughest games we play all year. And along with Alabama, this may actually end up being the toughest 3 game stretch on our schedule this year.

Thoughts?

Florida is just as bad off with injuries as GA is. If FLa and GA are both healthy when Mizzou played them I doubt Mizzou wins both, if either. They are catching teams at the right time and almost makes me nervous about losing guys this wknd just for the simple fact that is how Mizzou has walked into during this SEC stretch.

Don't hurt yourself thinking about it to much... Didn't Vandy just beat UGA? How bout Auburn over A+M?? Not impossible..

yeah, his logic is off. In 2001, Florida beat UGA BY 14. UGA beat UT in Knoxville so there is no way UT will beat UF in Gainesville, since they beat UGA who beat us at home. Oh, wait....

try 60. Evans is a beast too

Lost in the attention being given to UT's O improvements are the improvements on D. They held both UGA and USCe to under their avg. UT held USCe to their lowest point total of the year.

UGA's O has pretty much lost its steam with all the injuries but the 33 pts UT held them to was the lowest at that point. Total O vs UT's D in the last two games is a similar story.

IOW's, it might be foolish to predict what TAM would do against UT's D now based on what UT's D was like a month or two ago.

Another thought on Mizzou. One of only 2 teams in the country to be undefeated and win every game by at least 2 tds. The other school is Oregon.

Gonna be very difficult to win at Mizzou

I'm thinking both Auburn and Mizz are over rated and we have a shot at both of them.

I dont think auburn is. Malzahn recruited these players and their defensive co-ordinator is a great coach also. I believe they will rise up as we do. Jmo.

Someone once said "You are what your record says you are." Let it play out and we'll see. I don't think they are over rated, but I still think the Vols have a good shot at winning these games.

I like our chances against Auburn, and possibly pulling an upset against Missou. I think that they both are somewhat overrated. We shall see!

Auburn is much more talented than Mizzou. Both are beatable. Both will take very strong efforts from the Vols and continued improvement.... and health.

IMO, it is a nice break for UT that Mizzou is the road game and Auburn is at home. Again, Auburn is the more talented and dangerous team. Their stadium is also much more difficult to play in than Faurot.

Good tickets are still available for the Mizzou game for less than face value. Even when they're good, they don't have a great home field advantage. Being 2 hours east or west to an NFL city doesn't help them either. The people here are FAR more interested in the Chiefs being undefeated than Mizzou.

@ Mizzou will be tough, they proved in the UF game that their offense is the real deal.

Auburn outlasted TAMU, but can we shut down their offense? I don't see us "outlasting Auburn" in a shootout; defense will be key.

Tn defense is better than aggies d. Dont think auburn will have as easy of a time v tennessee
