Spent last year at Nebraska, was interim head coach at Depaul, and was an assistant for Billy G. at UK. He and Cuonzo served as assistants at Purdue in '03-'04.

I'd prefer Rob Evans, but this would be a sound hire and a good sign regarding Martin's ability to hire quality assistants.

Don't know much about him, but his resume looks solid.

Griffith also has an article about him up on GVX, mentions his strong ties to midwest recruiting hotbeds, but the one thing that stands out at this point that the staff being put together is lacking a connection to southern recruiting. Probably a sign that Fancher will indeed stay on as Dir. of Bball Operations.

Didn't realize he was on Pelphrey's staff. Have you heard that he may be candidate? We are talking about the former Ole Miss and Az State coach, right?

He was a hell of a player at Wisconsin, IIRC. I would put our staff up against anyone in a 3 on 3 tournament.

Webster would be HUGE for UT. He is a Chicago guy and has strong ties to the city. That may not seem like much to people in the south but Chicago produces some of the top talent in the nation year in and year out. The names can go on and on of Chicago talent at the top of college hoops every year. When guys like Jacob Pullin of K state is a lower tier prospect from Chicago, you know the talent is huge. He could help provide a solid recruiting base for UT hoops. If martin is smart he would snatch him up before UIC or some other mid major signs him up as the head coach.

I agree. I think it would be a better hire than any of the guys on the former staff.

The Director of Basketball Ops can't recruit, so that's no reason to keep Fancher around.
