Maybe this is beginning of elimination of Income Taxes.

I think we are about to see massive FC investment and may even be a way to handle immigration or work visas. Good paying jobs help eliminate gov deficits.

We certainly cant continue on path we have been on with trillion dollar trade deficts, trillions in yearly deficits, and a social welfare state.

The correction is gonna happen either planned or unplanned.

You're out of your mind if you think that kind of transformation can happen in decades, much less four years.

Canada is just theater. I'm hopeful it's resolved quickly behind the scenes. Makes zero sense otherwise.
You hope for their sake it is. WIth Canada it is about opening markets to US producers. They have historically held higher import tariffs protecting certain industries compared to the US. With Mexico it is obviously the border and drugs.

USA’s % of GDP from Canada+Mexico trade= 3-4%

Canada’s % of GDP from USA trade= 18-20%

Mexico’s % of GDP from ISA Trade= 30-42%

Our populace isn't going to view this as “who does it hurt more.” Its going to be how does this hurt/help me.

Like I said, there are likely going to be some negotiations to tweak a few things. But going after a key ally (and neighbor) over peanuts at the expense of your own citizens is a choice. I stand by it being nothing more than politics around campaign promises.
