Trae Golden is legit....

I'm sure about he was a top 10 player and he scored 40 points a game in high school. The part that he played in a bad league was what I was told.

Yea, I should have bolded that. I thought that Golden played in the largest classification in Georgia.

Obviously I'm not saying he has all of LeBron's abilities because LeBron's size plays a huge role in why he's so good, and obviously Trae is not his size.... BUT I did see signs of unbelievable athleticism from Trae. He would effortlessly tomahawk dunk in traffic at least 6-8' out... Which is very LeBron like. That's all.

Trae Golden's athleticism is a weakness, imo. He is not overly explosive. To compare him to LeBron James is laughable.

I've seen the kid play a lot because he played my high school and yes he can jump out of the gym, great speed, great passer and a great stroke. It seems to be only worth ethic and size (SG PG tweener) that seems to be holding him back from being a top 10 recruit. Multiple times id watch him dish an amazing pass or crazy jumper and not get back on defense or lazily run up the court on offense. Hopefuly that lazy demeanor changes when he gets here though.

Nice to know we'll have Lebron this year. I guess that means we will get knocked out in the Elite Eight again ala LBJ. :D

Have you seen him play?

If so, to say he's not athletic is beyond retarded.

The Trae Golden I saw last week was insanely athletic.

Are you sure you aren't talking about McRae? Golden is not overly athletic, does not display an ability to jump out of the gym. He has a good body for a guard, handles the ball adequately, passes adequately, and has a nice outside shot. He is not explosive to the basket, but should contribute next season.

He looked very explosive and athletic tonight.

He's solid. However, from watching him play, he doesn't appear overly athletic. He does seem fundamentally sound and appears to be a good shooter, though. Next time you watch him play, compare his athleticism to Goins'. It's not even close.

I just have to respectfully disagree. Everytime I've seen him play he impresses me more and more. No, he isn't as athletic as Goins but to say that his athleticism is a weakness just isn't true. He should develop into a nice PG in a few years.

I saw three redunkless tomahawk dunks (from at least 8' out from the goal mind you....) from Trae last week that says he's athletic. If you didn’t see those dunks, then you won't comprehend my comparison of him to LeBron nor will you understand why I feel the way I do about his athleticism and overall outlook as a UT player. This argument is moot.

No one said his athleticism is a weakness, just that he is not overly athletic. Lofton wasn't overly athletic, but was a pretty good player.

That is only true if you believe that LeBron being 6'9 has nothing to do with his success.

In other words, you think a 6'1 player with LeBron's skills would be a top 5 player?

Let's put it a different way. Do you think that a 6'9 guy with Chris Lofton's skills would be playing overseas?

LeBron James is the greatest athlete in NBA history. Does his size influence that? Yes. But if he had that kind of athleticism and LeBron's playmaking ability, he would be a top 5-10 player.

And Golden is 50 time more athletic than Lofton.

Made it out to RTL and dude has a nice lil jumper and can jump out of the gym. He had some massive athletic dunks. Honestly, he's what i would imagine if LeBron James was his size. Very athletic and explosive player.

No offense, but it's the RTL. Until the guy steps on the floor and shows it against SEC competition, he's just a prospect with a lot of potential.

The funniest sports clip I ever saw was of Lebron playing in high school. Lebron--built like a bodybuilder and looking about 30 years old, blows past these pimply 140 pound white kids, who clearly weren't even shaving yet, and dunks the ball. It was hysterical.
