Do you grow your own marijuana? If you can't or don't want to grow your own marijuana, can you buy marijuana at a store like Wal-Mart or Walgreen's?

You can grow up to 6 plants I believe or you can buy it from MJ dispensaries. They already sell medical MJ and now will be able to sell to anyone over 21

Just as I thought.

I watch Live PD.....when did marijuana just become a "fine?" One of my employee's son got caught with about a quarter of an ounce 5-6 years ago and had to go to jail.....this was his first offense other than a speeding ticket. It seems to be better getting caught with marijuana than alcohol.

Used to be a mandatory arrest here, and it some places (I have no idea what the percentages are), it still is.

So...without taking sides on the issue, here's what we did: back in 2005 or 2006, the Patrol Division Sergeants (four of us) went to see the Probate Court (same as State Court here) judge. Part of our duties was to try to help "manage" the jail population when it was at capacity, and there are two small cities in our county that make a lot of arrests, so we ended up trying to avoid an arrest unless it was mandated by law (DUI, Family Violence, felony offense, etc). Since there was no bond for Misdemeanor Possession, it was a mandatory arrest, and trust me...we threw out truckloads of dope, half an ounce at a time, to avoid putting the jail over DOJ capacity (think "lawsuit"). He heard us out...agreed...and set a bond of $770 for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Seize the weed; write the citation; send them on their way; and drop the evidence. You have no idea how many new patrol cars we bought just on marijuana citations.

I was young once, and tried to catch them all. Now...being a lot older, and hopefully a bit wiser...I am of the mindset that if you do not need to be in jail, I'll do all I can to not put you there. Mind you, I'm just one of many.

So, there it is. Weed Law 101.

Y'all be safe out there...

If you want to burn a little herb, I have only two requests:

(1) Do it in the safety of your own home. There is some preliminary information coming out of Colorado that DUI-Drugs arrests are skyrocketing due to the legalization of marijuana there. Not taking sides here. I say the same thing about alcohol. Two drink limit. After that, get a motel, or Uber.

(2) Please familiarize yourself with the applicable state and local laws. Stay inside the box. If you get popped for weed, my only response to a request for advice will be "get a good attorney". LOL.

Happy New Year, VN! Let's do all we can to make it to the next one, huh?

I'm not a smoker (of anything) or alcohol drinker. I'm not for or against either as I believe it is a person's choice. However, I strongly agree about being safe and especially not driving. I have a teen son, so I am doing my damnedest to try and set an example being the best thing is to simply stay away from both.

I have watched a couple of marijuana shows and was just blown away by the amount of money that is being made in this industry. I have a few things going on now, but would like to try this business.

I've seen other data suggesting per-captia DUI charges have been decreasing year after year since 1992 with a couple exceptions in Colorado.

DUI is not good. I'm not suggesting otherwise. Just saying I've seen different stats on this topic.

Haha I don’t know. I bet they were lined up for the doors to open

Yelp, that is exactly what I heard on the radio today......marijuana shops were packed beyond expectations. The reporter went on to say this was going to be a very tax base product, if not number #1, in California.

Personally, I believe marijuana legalization will be like the lottery......just way, way too much money involved for a state to pass up/miss out on.

It'll be 6 months before that info even makes it to Nashville.

So, interestingly, there is no record of the citation. I think it was either never turned in or somehow got lost in the transition of computer systems.

Weird, but good!

There's no record until there suddenly is. Check back with her in 6 months.
