As a SC fan, I am actually hoping she does not end up at SC. Feagin, #4 in her class, has been patiently waiting behind the departing seniors for two years to get her chance. She led SC in points per minutes played last season and I believe she will make everyone see the wait was worth it. I say this because I believe Morrow is a natural 4, Feagin’s position. Some would argue Morrow could slide to the 3 or maybe Feagin could do so.
But SC needs perimeter shooting from their 3 spot and neither of those two are adequate from 3 and get most of their points close to the basket. I expect Hall (40% from 3) and Kitts to man the 3 this coming season and getting Morrow would also bump those two from PT and development. Ditto for Watkins PT and development. Maybe Dawn wants to move Hall to the 2 spot, if so that would open a starting spot at 3, but again, is Morrow the right fit at 3, or would a true 3 point shooter be the answer? You all saw the one weakness SC had last season, outside shooting. Morrow does not address that weakness.
Morrow is likely looking for two things, fit (where she will still be the spotlight player) and yes NIL opportunities which come with exposure and opportunity to be “the man”. She saw the fruits of Clark’s national exposure, which came from Clark being the dominant piece on her team. Morrow is about to cash in, and nobody can blame her, you take what you can get while you can like everyone would do.
If this sounds stupid because, you know, nobody in their right mind passes on a 25/12 player, well I still believe in chemistry and fit. I don’t see a volume shooter who is 42% overall and 25% from 3 as an especially good recipe for a team offense designed not to be reliant on any one player, esp a volume shooter with low perimeter shooting %. Great player, she will land somewhere with a big splash and fanfare, and do well I am sure. I just hope it’s not SC. Just my opinion, nothing else.
