Transfer Portal Thread

So with plenty of quality players in the transfer portal, and with at least 2 of our own likely to put their names in, what would your pecking order be in terms of transfers that you’d like us to go after? Say that we add BHH to go along with our other two freshmen coming in.

If 3 transfer out we have 8 scholarships, Chandler/Mashack/BHH/Tamba take up 4 of those so theoretically that leaves room for 4 transfers...although I think in that scenario we leave at least 1 spot open.

If the above plays out you’re looking at:

Chandler
Vescovi/Bailey
James/Mashack
BHH/ORN
Fulky/Plavsic/Tamba/Anosike

I think you’re looking at trying to improve and add depth really across the board...I think you need a guard that can shoot, whether that’s a 1 or 2 doesn’t much matter. I think you’re also looking to take a talented big that has some eligibility and will be here next year.

There are a ton of good names out there an UT should not have an issue finding at least 2 players in the portal who are upgrades over those leaving.

Walker Kessler (considering UT but Gongaza lean)
Qudus Wahab (not sure if UT is involved, would be nice)
Parker Stewart (good chance UT here)

I'm just wondering how many 6'10"+ guys Gonzaga needs.

*Timme (Soph) is 6'10
*They're likely to get the #1 ranked recruit in the country - Chet Holmgren (7'0")
*And Walker Kessler (another 7-footer) is said to be favoring Gonzaga

This doesn't add up. Unless Timme is planning on going pro.

Well, of course you do.

Barnes having no relationship with this kid, and little time to develop one, at this point, if he goes anywhere other than Tennessee, then it's Barnes's fault.

I swear, some of you go out of your way to find reasons not to like the guy when he provides enough reasons without having to be creative or disingenuous. If you don't like him, his coaching, or his roster constriction, that's fine. I just don't see a reason to manufacture reasons to dislike him. If Tennessee doesn't land this kid, it isn't necessarily a failure on his part. In the overwhelming majority of these transfer cases, kids are going to land at a school where they had a previous relationship to begin with. That isn't on Barnes or any other coach that can't convince him to take a chance without any prior relationship or level of comfortability.

Timme likely goes pro. They also just landed a 5 star top ten combo guard today as well.

I have seen Timme projected as a draft pick. Maybe fringe first rounder, but I’m not sure his stock can get any higher.

Any chance Springer could return? I feel like Keon has the best shot of going top 15 so I doubt he stays regardless of team potential next year. Springer I think can improve his stock with another year here, especially with more talent on the roster and I've read where people say he may want to play with BHH.

Anyway seems very likely we've got BHH if they are letting Drew & Gaines move on, I say letting cause I feel like the staff could keep 1 or both here if they wanted them.
