Transfer Portal Thread

I think what matters the most is the net contribution. But that doesn’t seem to be Rick Barnes’ philosophy
Hopefully he is watching the tournament and noticing that the teams that are winning can shoot the rock. This whole idea of getting a bunch of 6-7 athletic guys that can switch on defense and cover multiple positions doesn't work unless they can dribble and shoot as well.

Baylor is the epitome of that. They always switch and they’re #1 in the country in 3pt %

I haven't seen Gonzaga play this year but heard Parrish and Borzello on radio yesterday. Gonzaga is not a volume 3 point shooting team either. They apparently rely on the midrange game, too. They do have 3 possible first round picks with 2 being lottery picks. Parrish said that if Alabama were to play them and hit 15-18 three's, Gonzaga could lose. That it was interesting, considering the discussions we have had around here.

Hard to argue w their results, but I think they’d drive ZJC crazy in that they have the 30th best 3pt % but rank 283rd in attempts. But yeah basically if both teams are scoring but one is getting an extra point on every make then the advantage is to the one hitting 3s

A bit of a surprise. I doubt we get involved here, but he would be a nice piece. Lots of P5 programs will be looking at him closely.

Only a sophomore too. Would be great in that he’d bring some experience, but also be able to stick around for a couple years

I’ve watched Gonzaga 4 times this year and each time said “uh why don’t they shoot more 3’s” 😂😂😂

Yeah, I'm all in Wahab, love the way, in a couple of those highlights when he grabs on offensive rebound, he keeps the ball high, then goes back up with it. Really good fundamentals, keeps smaller guys from reaching in knocking the ball loose or even getting a steal. Defensive force sounds nice, too. Not that I care, but is he from the USA, originally ?

I hate to say it, but Bama can win this thing. I do think Baylor and the Zags are better, but the best team does not always win.

Here’s an interesting name...

41% from 3 over his first 2 seasons on over 5 attempts a game at the HM level in the ACC...gotta wonder if we reach out, we were the favorites for awhile the first time around.

Does he play PG or is he a combo who can play the 2? I would guess he wouldn't come to sit behind Chandler.

The portal this year is arguably filled with better talent than the actual 2021 recruiting class lol. Crazy. Just so much talent transferring. I mean it was to be expected with the weird COVID year and the free year of eligibility AND the transfer rule all hitting at the same time, but man it's still crazy to think about.

If he would be ok as a backup PG, he would fit the bill perfectly.

It’s totally unnecessary. I don’t get how the two are related. Why a virus pandemic should be dealt with by allowing de facto free agency

I think it’s just something that was coming for awhile now. The ncaa has gotten tired of the criticism and has lost any backbone it had

Would also be nice to add assuming he’d probably be the starting PG after Chandler is one and done. Edwards (assuming we land him) can come in and learn a bit and not get thrown into the fire

You’re probably right. A convenient excuse to do it. Which is kind of a chicken **** move but totally on par with the NCAA. If they want it to be part of college sports then they should honestly decide on it. Not just use a pandemic to shoehorn it in
