With Justin Hamilton bolting for the NBA early, LSU wouldn't have been very good next year, even with Trent Johnson. If they hadn't made the NCAA, that would have been four years in a row. He could have been fired next year, and he wouldn't have been able to get nearly as good of a job as TCU then. Seems like a good move to me by Johnson, but this could mean a few more years of suckitude for LSU.

His time was very limited, probably looking at getting canned before next year or early next year if he didn't turn it around.

I have never considered LSU a basketball school, usually every 4-6 years they make one or two NCAA runs. Recruiting has always been uneven. IMHO

This will work out well for both parties. Trent is a solid coach, but he wasn't going to do his best while he was at Baton Rouge. This marriage was just never a good fit.
