Tressel Vs. Pearl

Someone tell me the difference and why Tressel isn't in as much heat as Pearl was after lying to the NCAA. Contacting an FBI agent seems quite a bit more severe than lying about a BBQ.

I was thinking the samething. I hope he gets canned, what he did was worse.

Tressel is in much more deep water than Pearl. Tressel was lying about real shiz and covering other. Pearl was lying about secondary violation type crap and still had to go. Tressel is finished.

Oh, I think the heat is way hotter for Tressel than it ever was for Pearl...

... but like NYY stated, the end result is the same.

Everyone up there thinks that they are in the clear because they didn't get the "failure to monitor" charge. Setting themselves up for a emotional crash landing.

Right. That means the school isn't in trouble... unless they hold on to Tressel who is in deep.

That's all I wanted to hear. I hadn't even cared until I read that Tressel lied to the NCAA. At that point, I just wanted the NCAA to handle it the same way.

It's still early. These kind of things are like radiation poisoning. Lethal exposure has already occurred, but outwardly everything still seems fine. Dude's gonna start melting eventually, though.

the local news in columbus is trying to reassure everyone that it's ok because they didn't get a failure to monitor

I don’t understand; what do ESPN Analyst have to do with the amount of trouble Tressel is in with the NCAA?

PS: Based upon his commentary this morning Cowherd clearly understands.

Patience.

Pearl hung around for what, 8 months and the punishment still hasn't hit Tennessee yet.

Tressel will coach this season and be fired in December.

If he stays then I'm sure UT has some firepower in the appeal process.

Tressel knowingly played ineligible players, and lied about it, to try and win a national title.

As much as what I think what Pearl did was wrong, that's much, much worse.
