Trey Smith to Titans?

Was getting ready to post just this...
MOST guys spend their entire NFL career getting paid, then chasing rings.

Trey has had the great fortune to do just the opposite. He has the rings, now go get paid and secure your kid's kid's futures.
Exactly. No need to ring chase. He’s got two. Lot of players dont have any or even played in. Super Bowl. Could possibly be getting his third this season unless Washington steps in the way. That team is balling.

Get the money and go coach or get on an ESPN show with your body intact. Trey has personality so he could do it.

If he cares about money go to the highest bidder. If he cares about winning, stay in KC with Mahomes for whatever they offer and ride that horse until it breaks down.
It's not going to break down as long as the refs protects Mahomes. You can not touch him lol

Jeff Fisher and Eddie George took quite a few shots at UT (we play real football, etc). Believe there were some Heisman comments in there as well. Compare that to how the Colts came into E TN, embraced a huge group of football fans and grew a solid fan base for years.
I wasn't back in Middle Tennessee until the mid 2000s so I missed much of the early years of local news around the organization. Thanks. I didn't know Fisher and George had said those things

Didn’t read the article but with the new GM coming from KC, it makes sense. The Titans with the 3-5th most cap space, can pay for a good lineman.

If managed correctly, the Titans are on a rise. They will have draft capital and cap space. If they mess up their number 1 pick, then the Titans will be a dumpster fire for 4 more years.

I'd be surprise if they don't pick Sanders. Although some rumors/jokes of Dallas trading Dak for the 1st round pick and them signing Deionas their coach

The Titans have had the worst OL in the NFL for like 3 years. You're saying they shouldn't sign Trey Smith because they already have 1 guard and don't need 2?

You need a QB, another receiver, a tight end. You didnt have one player on the OL that graded above a low end backup on PFF. Your only playable OL are best suited for inside.

You have several glaring holes on defense.

Just not sure 25 million on a guard is the best use of salary cap space...

If the Titans had a high end QB, high end skill players and only needed a guard to solidfy a side of the line, Id be for it....

Yeah. Unless Trey can block two with each arm, it would be like trying plug a hole in dam with chewing gum.

There's a lot of teams that will want to sign soon-to-be free agent Trey Smith - a second chance for the Titans perhaps?

I hope it happens!

Bud Adam’s would roll over if he could see what they have done to his team. After several years of DA moves , they got rid of Henry, who was the only thing good left about the titans. They are bottom dwellers. And Trey would be better off almost anywhere else if he left the chiefs

It would be amazing. We really need him especially if we're drafting Ward or Sanders.
Nice to hear from you, dduncan, and good to know there's still some diehards around. The Titans will definitely have a new QB in '25 and have the cap space to splurge on Trey, who is worthy of a top-of-the-market contract.

With a new GM, maybe the Titans will turn things around, and all the bandwagon Chiefs/Bills/Eagles fans will have to dig in their closet for their old Titans stuff.

He’s got two rings. It’s time to get paid. Taking money doesn’t mean he can’t find a team that’s winning or on the way up.
Just don’t go to any team in CA because of the cost of living or the Titans because they’re in so much disarray.
Trey's current salary is $3.3M. He'll probably make another $250K in the playoffs. But, he'll likely get somewhere in the neighborhood of $15M in free agency. I doubt the Chiefs can afford to keep him.

Not sure MOST real college fans can really also be pro fans. I can’t. I prioritize teams to follow, last couple of years KC, but doubt I could ever honestly co-support two teams even at different levels.

Had BIG arguments with multiple posters who brazenly predicted the Oilers would create big holes in Neyland. Got no problem with folks going the other way, but always figured they would be addition by subtraction opening seats for those with Orange commitments. Room for everyone.

Many factors go into many pro players decisions. Some with families may really love where they are, especially when they are on a good competitive team. If their team can get close to top offers sometimes it’s enough. Not every player goes to the highest bidder, the destination and family situation does factor in with many whether some want to believe that or not.

I love both college and the NFL

Sometimes I think the Titans don't want Vol fans to be a part of their fandom, am I wrong?!
I agree with your point but do any pro teams really do this? And I mean that as a serious question, I don't know how other markets do things.
