Stanley Morgan vs. Hawaii.

Nice!!!!

The versatile Morgan still leads the list of career all-purpose yards leaders with 4,642 yards. He also ranks third in career touchdowns, with 39, and was the first Volunteer running back to rush for 200 yards in a single game.

For some reason, I have a mental block about that question. I always initially forget Morgan and think that Johnnie Jones at Rutgers in '83 is the answer.

How many times during the 1990s, did the VOLS face a #1 ranked team?
Do you mean #1 when we played them, or number one at the end of the season?

I apologize for any misdirection. It was not intended. Hat, where in the world do you store all of this memory? My head is full of useless song lyrics and movie lines.
Mine is heavily populated by great wrestling interviews.

When we played them at that time they were number 1. You are correct there were at least 3 teams that were number 1 at the end of the season but not at the time we played them.

I know Notre Dame was #1 when we played them in '90. That's the only one that comes to mind.

Correct- in fact they were the only ones in the 90's that were number 1 the vols faced.
We were number #1 for 5 weeks in the 98 season.

The ones that were number one at the end of the season that we played were Colorado 1990, Bama 92, and Florida 96, and Nebraska 98 orange bowl.

He was about 40 years before Dodd.

Yeah, I figured. Bobby is the oldest QB I can recall, and I knew he was pretty light. But yeah, he played in the the 30's.
