lol, i was actually looking at the Rose Bowl site when you asked that. Wierd. Two glorious years before Oregon State defeated Duke in the only Rose Bowl to be played outside of Pasadena.

Got some statistics. Tennessee is 0-2 against USC in the Rose Bowl. Let's put one under the W column in 2006!

More motivation: Alabama was the first team to defeat USC in the Rose Bowl, after Tennessee failed to do so twice. USC has historically been dominant in the Tournament of Roses, with a 21-8 record.

Though it may have been C.D. Brown in that first game (Maryville 1892), a verifiable report gives that honor to Strang Nicklin (175 yds vs Central University of Kentucky in 1896).
