Trojans vs Irish

"Jimmy Clausen rose to the occasion at the end.." This was uttered by one of the announcers 9 seconds after he said Clausen missed a wide open receiver in the endzone.

There is justice in the world. The beer tastes a little better now. After the Arkansas game, the beers were not tasting as good.

More refs almost deciding the outcome of the game. The deadball defenseless receiver call was BS and the roughing the passer was weak.

What I was thinking, but they are Pac 10 Refs.
It's a Big East crew. I saw some field officials (guys holding the yard markers? I forget) with Big East gear on.

Giving ND that second back was the right call. The Irish do suck a lot less this year than years past. Unfortunately that means we will probably get to see them get ganked in a BCS game again... Awesome.

Bottom line I took away from the game: 1. Charlie Weis is a dead man walking 2. Jimmy Clausen is awful in the clutch, I'm glad he went to ND.

Weis will probably keep his job for keeping it close with a USC team that is down this year. Sigh...

I only watched the last 4 minutes of the game, so I can't comment on all of it other than to say this:

1. I was surprised at the number of points ND was able to muster. Their offense is better than I thought.

2. I hope that is the worst example of officiating homerism I see this year. Between a questionable PF on a DB, a ticky-tack roughing the passer, and the strangest decision to add time to the clock in favor of the home team, it was really bad in the closing minutes, it was really bad.

I have to admit, I would have like to have Clausen the way he played today.

Yeah, he and Golden Tate could star for about any team in the country. You also gotta think a healthy Michael Floyd gets at least two jumpballs at the end of the game yesterday and comes down with one of em.

I hate ND as much as anyone but if no one leaves early on offense and their defense can improve, they could actually be really good next year.
