To be honest, I really think a little too much is being made of this. Assistants come and go all the time.

I agree. For the most part these positions are training grounds and stepping stones. This is a business and most will go where the money, prestige, and front page is.

I agree, people are making way too big of a deal of a change of this because he is the fan favorite.

i think i would get rid of chavis before i got rid of taylor.  defense looked good first part of the year,  forgot how to tackle the second.  taylor is probably the best assistant on the staff.  doesn't make any sense so fulmer will probably can him.

Im a Trooper fan. But Trooper over Chavis?

You have much to learn about the game. I encourage you to start, you'll enjoy it better once you understand it better.

I like TT but he is not as big of a contributer to the team. I know he has done SOME good things the past two years and i respect him for that. But Chavis has already contributed so much to thid team and IMO he still has so much more to contribute. I think we should just trust the decisions made by our head coach and his staff. I think we all can agree that some changes need to be made; and who else better to make the changes than the HC? If next year is a flop, then we can point fingers.....but we do need a change, so lets trust CPF and the decisions made by him and his staff.

I like Troppers enthusiasm. It's better than sitting stone-faced looking on from the sidelines. Give him at least one more year. Winning cures alot of ills.

It looks like TT is staying put. If he was going to be replaced, it would have happened yesterday.

Yep, according to the IT/Scout site, the rumors about Chavis and Taylor were total fiction. Just another day on the internet.

i'm sorry guys i still disagree.  the first new blood you bring in and you run him out of knoxville.  it spell's doom for tennessee next year.  it is true to,  that tennessee usually has a great run defense,  but our pass defense usually isn't very good.

You are right Smokedog. In every game that counts(a few exceptions)we get picked apart. Trooper is the bright spot on the sideline....the rest are dinosaurs. Enthusiasm is infectious and the kids (recruits) notice those sidelines. Lack of emotion is just as infectious!!

agreed. trooper was a highlight to our program over the last two years. two backs that were about to quit and not even play that ended up with over +1000 yards. Plus, the great recruiting class in RB we had this year..i think Trooper can be accounted for that.

and he is a BIG recruiter in the Houston, TX area. just some things Trooper brings to the table. Add emotion and energy to that as well.

I think OL, DB, and WR need a serious adjustment. Add special teams to the list as well and fundimentals on defense.

There is fiction on the internet?

Yeah along with Trooper with kiddie porn on his office computer.....or Sanders with the dead girl or live boy. People love to start some crazy rumors out there. Some can be believeable and others are just plain thought up in purple haze. I'm still waiting for the author of the Hamilton getting access to speak with Butch Davis rumor to prove that one. Unitl it actually happens you can best wait and see first.

He's way too good of a recruiter to let him go. That could really come back to bite us in a few years, especially if he goes to LSU or another SEC rival.

Can anyone say Rodney Garner? . . . Funny how Georgia started getting really good whenever he left UT for UGA, and the Cosey Colemans and Jamal Lewises of the world are staying in state all of the sudden.

We should keep Trooper, especially if the internet rumors about he and Chavis's tiff are false.

Cutcliff is on Vol Calls now and says Trooper is out recruiting and Cutcliff is looking forward to working with him. So unless he is offered more money elsewere I believe he will stay at UT.
