So, the point of this article is that every story has a major dilemma, and the dilemma in the Odyssey is that Odysseus is just trying to return home. In Gladiator, Maximus only wants to get home to work on his fields, so this idea is "borrowed" from the Odyssey, and is "unoriginal". Planes, Tranes, Automobiles, and Due Date, and the Hobbit and many other movies/books incorporate this theme of an incredible journey where the ideal resolution for the protagonist is to make it home.
