If u think it was to many last year your going to love next year.:)

I predict the same next year - 2. Malone and Medley, possibly 3 with one of the TE's. Lane will start at RB over Hurd. No true freshmen will start on the OL or DL. Might have a RS freshman in at QB. There should be several freshmen in the 2 deep though.

Say what you will but I think, even with the turn over up front, this years roster looks much better than last years

I agree. I especially feel that way about the DL. May not have much experience, but I have a feeling they'll be more active in opposing backfields.

Add a stellar linebacking corps and a what I think will be a good secondary. I'm excited about this defense

I wouldn't be shocked to see Payne starting opposite Sutton and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the Freshman Linebackers start opposite Maggitt. I also think Helm starts at tight end. I do agree with you on Malone and please let Medley start and be good, but I'm not sure Hurd wont start over Lane, I think that's totally up to his shoulder rehab. Might be wrong but hay that's my guess. :good!:

The DL will not be improved. It is at best going to be on par with last years. You guys are kidding yourselves if you think it will be better.

I think its more up to whether Lane stays out of the dog house or not. If Lane runs into some trouble like last off season, then the position is open for a different starter. If Lane takes care of business and stays healthy this off season, then I believe he's entrenched as the starter for at least the first 1/4 of the season. Now if Hurd clearly outshines Lane during the games he may well pass him on the depth chart...just not in the off season IMHO.

Hard to imagine Payne knocking a 2 year starter to the sidelines.

My point is...if you're having to start a large number of true freshman it really emphasizes lack of depth. (Which we all know we're thin). It's just hard for ANY true freshman to come in and compete at a high level against players that have been in college weight programs for a couple of years.

I don't disagree, I just think that there is real talent in this class and sooner than later that talents going to be on the field. I'm not sure how many will start week one but i really think by mid season they will be everywhere.

.....but we're not gonna be staring a lot of true freshmen

Talking backfield only: I think I would rather have a speedy freshman, than a slower experienced defender.
I reserve the right to retract this statement. :)

true freshman are not what they used to be, especially the higher rated 4-5 star guys that have been to numerous specialized camps and then add on the 1 on 1 training , and also the enhanced workouts that are all now part of being a top 100 player. These type freshman are elite athletes that have already narrowed the gap quite a bit. Bring them on, and keep them coming.
