I think besides North, he easily has the best hands on the team....not sure why he hasn't seen more time at WR.....the guy is money on Juco and punt returns....Josh Smith and Jason Crook are both huge letdowns and hopefully won't see the field next year with our new studs coming in. UGA fans warned me there was a reason UGA didn't recruit Croom and now I see why. Yeah, I saw the circus catch, but that doesn't negate a less than average season for him.

Young however just has great natural instincts and hands....has to be used more.

And Josh Dobbs...everyone knows .I am not his biggest fan, but after watching him against UK, he was clearly handicapped in the Vandy game by the coaches playing too safe offensively.

I can't really speak about Smith and Croom, but after seeing Devrin make those catches last night, I wondered why he didn't get used as a WR more this season. He can definitely catch and is fast.

Got injured and then became buried on the depth chart. I think he made a case for more playing time last night.

He has been hurt but he isn't a player I will say is underutilized. He had a good game and that's it.

Lol...he made what....two catches and people are saying he has the best hands on the team?? I like him but he's a tiny tiny target to start with. He did have the wrist injury earlier, but I'm not ready to say he should be playing ahead of a 6' 5" Croom in the SEC.

I saw him flatten a DB (when they try to make their bump/contact within the allowed 5yds), in the footage of fall camp, and I thought...he's going to be a good slot receiver, to rotate in with Pig. It's a shame Azzani and Bajakian haven't tried to get him involved more, before injuries force them to do so.

This is why I always laugh at people who say "the coaches know more than you do, so why don't you STFU?" Coaches under-utilize and mis-evaluate players ALL THE TIME! Case in point....Lane Kiffin essentially telling Heisman winner, Cam Newton to take a hike...and choosing Matt Simms instead.

Telling Tahj Boyd and Bryce Petty, "No thanks...I'm planning on recruiting over you next year...I'm looking for the California Surfer type." I was livid about those choices at the very time he made them, and yet ingorant yahoos were saying the same damn thing. "Coaches know more than you do, so why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?"

I agree man. Some folks are bias to him because he's a Knoxville kid. He's a junior and wasn't able to beat out freshman. He honestly is a waste of a scholly. He isn't SEC talent at all. He wouldn't start at no other school in the SEC besides UT and Kentucky.

Mr Young has been a solid contributor. He does his job and doesn't seem to pi$$ and moan about it as much as some fans do. He is doing a good job and does what he's asked to do.

Jason Croom season stats.

SEASON REC YDS AVG LNG TD
2013 - 18 - 269 - 14.9 - 43 - 2

Not too bad for a RS freshmen wide reciever, that didn't start all the games, on a team that has had sub par qb play is not bad at all.

Devrin Young stats las night:

REC YDS AVG LNG TD
4 - 66 - 16.5 - 37 - 1

Made a case for more playing time in the future. IMO

It was Kentucky man reading way too much into that. If he did that against USCjr, Mizzou etc then I could agree. If that's the type of talent you want on the field then I would hate for you to be the coach. You would really drive us to irrelevancy.

I have the same questions about Jacob Carter. Coach stated Carter probably had the best hands on the team that's why he fielded punts.
As thin as the receiving corps were Carter rarely got on the field. When he did he caught the ball, was he slower that the rest of our "slow players" ?

Another "Coaches know everything....until they are fired" brainiac. :loco:

Got 2 words for you...
1) Lane
2) Kiffin

Heck, here's two more, for good measure...
1) Derek
2) Dooley

Question either coach BEFORE they leave/get fired, and one gets hordes of dingleberries just like you....making the same comments.

Azzani hinted at it in one interview....something about some guys being able to make plays after the catch, and others not so much.

I think Josh Smith should've been the one riding the pine. "Oh, but he has the best hands...IN PRACTICE." Sounds just like the excuse Mike Munchak has been making for Kenny Britt, all year. "Sure he sucks on game day....but he looks good in practice. That's what counts...right?"

We are so depleted in the wr ranks that anyone who can catch a pass looks good. I will say this, one game doesn't make a player but he sure as hell is better than Josh Smith who is no Div. 1 player. I mean this seriously I am not ragging on Smith but he could be a star in a lower division.

I saw an instant chemistry between Young and Dobbs....Dobbs seemed to loom much more comfortable with him in there and like I said the guy has excellent hands returning kicks....some people take that skill for granted after having CP return kicks, but there was a 3 year span in which UT didn't have a returner who could even hold onto the ball........not to mention he takes it to the 35 yard line almost every return....he has shown more consistency than all of our wrs besides North combined......let's be honest Croom would not be starting on hardly any other SEC team besides maybe Kentucky and UF...because ufs wrs are so woeful....he has the size but horrible insticts and average hands and route running......

Devrin had an excellent game against a Lexington High School Team. We also had a depleted WR core....lets not get carried away.... :ermm:
