Meaningless to his reelection campaign. Those hell bent on voting him out don't need another reason. His supporters either won't believe it or won't care.

Not a single vote will change because of this.

How can I not think this is for book sales?

You go to the police, not your editor. What is this even teaching our female youth? If you get raped keep it bottled up until you decide to release it to the world on a monetary platform?

Absent some evidence of it occurring it would be her word against his and he can point out that she is reporting it as she tries to sell a book.

Reasonable doubt.

Doesn't mean its untrue but it does mean it cannot be proven to the relevant standard.
