Trump Supporters Gathering in D.C. - Mayor Readies for Those ‘Seeking Confrontation’

And you think that explains his premeditated lying about the election being stolen and the subsequent actions of trumpers?
By being a loudmouth? More or less. Like with most bullies it stems from some sort of insecurity that is then projected.

The genius is Trump turned that into a business. I cant stand it personally. And most of his supporters couldnt stand it either before he decided to run as an R.

But by that point they were willing to support their guy because he wore the same uniform.

Then trump redefined what it meant to be on the team, and his supporters couldnt give up the team name, so they changed teams effectively. Not to the other named team, but they often completely abandoned their standards to support the team they found themselves on.

What type of person would refuse to wear a mask in that situation? I guess we know.
1. People who already had it and got over it.
2. People who cant wear masks.
3. People who didnt trust the source of the masks they were provided.
4. People worried about dramatically increasing their CO2 intake. Half from the mask, half from the enclosed space.
5. Anyone that got sweaty and knew the efficacy of masks disappears when they get wet. I imagine the adrenaline, cramped spaces, and rapid movement contributed to increased levels of sweat production.
6. People who dont believe masks work at all.
7. People sick and tired of the mask bs.
8. People more worried about other more immediate concerns.

So 6 and 7.
I'll add 8. People who let their political position trump their humanity toward others.

As far as I know Ivanka or Melania didn't run for office ... am I rite? BTW, we need to get over this stupid practice of giving status to presidential families.

I think we will see that practice greatly reduced in the future.

I can't say who or when it started, but Eleanor Roosevelt didn't seem shy about having her say. It's absurd that the "first lady" needs a support entourage - we didn't elect her (him, her, or it - to cover the future).

It still goes back to this

... or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Courts have constantly revisited and "refreshed" or expanded the meaning - you can now burn stuff and interpret it as speech. "Peaceably assemble" seems to have taken new character since the 1960s; and certainly over the summer most of us seem to have different thoughts about "mostly peaceful". The interesting thing is that the little incident at the capitol was for once really aimed at the people in government who like to make the rules rather than private businesses who don't. It also seems to have ended without buildings burning or statues and other fixtures overturned. The very people who see themselves as elite and above the fray apparently don't like it when others invade their house and disclose their displeasure.

It seems ironic that the people who supposedly represent "the people" - but really don't listen or represent the people are disturbed when the constituents they ignore get a little loud and rowdy after years of being ignored. The people in the capitol are the very people who have driven blocs apart and tempted fate by promoting minority interests over the majority. My advice to the legislators: "Shut the hell up for once, and listen."

. . . and now CBS has extended footage from last Wednesday showing her inside the Capitol . . . without a mask on.
Yeah I saw that.

Anyone who knew they had it wouldn't have been there. Completely unprofessional to blame someone with zero knowledge

Joint Chiefs of Staff call Capitol riots 'sedition and insurrection,' remind troops of oath

The Pentagon’s senior military leadership on Tuesday branded the riot Jan. 6 at the Capitol “sedition and insurrection” and admonished troops to heed their charge to protect and defend the Constitution “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

The extraordinary memo to all active duty and reserve troops left no doubt that the military’s top brass considered last week’s attack on the attack to be a criminal act and counter to military values and their oaths. Army Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, signed the memo along with seven other senior leaders.

You do realize that you don’t have to be named Jane Smith to be in Congress, right?

Pretty much explains the undercurrent of Trumpism. They don't like the changing face of America, especially when those faces are brown, the names are different, and they are smarter than the Trumpers.

Not true at all..We welcome any person that stands for our values, as long as it is done LEGALLY. Dems want freebie voters, Repubs want cheap labor.

I see no reason for confusion. Anybody that riots and causes damage to anybody’s property should be arrested and held accountable for said damage. And that goes for the ringleaders who incite it. Anybody that riots and invades the US Capitol or any other government facility with the intent of doing bodily harm to representatives and/or impeding a Constitutionally required event should be arrested and tried for sedition. And if you incite said riot, you need to face charges of inciting sedition. In my view, this is no different than Guy Fawkes trying to blow up Parliament. It’s a shame the punishment isn’t what it was then. That would stop a lot of this mess in its tracks.
